Rasmussen Poll Shows Voters Overwhelmingly Oppose Sexually Explicit Material In Public Schools, But You Wouldn’t Know It From The Media Coverage

The left has tried to paint any opposition to the hyper-sexualization of children in schools as a “right-wing moral panic.” Business Insider literally called it that– “a growing right-wing moral panic accusing teachers of sexualizing children.” This kind of rhetoric makes the whole issue sound like it’s a) an exclusively a right-wing issue specific to these MAGA extremists everyone’s talking about, and b) an unreasonable and unpopular stance to take.

But a new poll by Rasmussen Reports and Capitol Resource Institute of 1,000 U.S. Likely Voters, conducted Sept 20-21, 2022, shows that neither of these is the case. It’s neither exclusively right-wing, nor is it unpopular and unreasonable. It’s very much a bipartisan issue, has overwhelming majority support, and crosses racial demographics. The poll showed the following:

• “89% of Likely U.S. voters think it is important that public schools fully inform parents about what is being taught to their children in classrooms, including 70% who say it is Very Important,”
• “69% of voters believe books containing explicit sexual depictions of sex acts, including homosexual sex, should not be present in public high school libraries,” with the percentage opposed rising to “79% for middle schools and 85% for elementary schools,”
• “77% of voters are concerned that school-age children are being exposed to sexual material that is not age appropriate, including 55% who are Very Concerned,”
• “79% of whites, 73% of both black and Hispanic voters, and 72% of other minorities were at least somewhat concerned that school-age children are being exposed to sexual material that is not age appropriate,” and
• Majority of Republicans, Democrats, and unaffiliated voters (85%, 56%, and 69% respectively) ” believe it is Very Important that public schools fully inform parents about what is being taught to their children in classrooms.”

The moral of the story is that you shouldn’t let the mainstream media trick you into thinking that something is just a “right-wing moral panic” in order to serve their radical leftist narrative.
