October 4, 2022Following the massive destruction and tragic death caused by Hurricane Ian hitting Florida, the rabid leftist media was desperate to make the devastation reflect poorly on the one person they might hate as much as Trump– FL Governor Ron DeSantis. As DeSantis was out distributing supplies, a CNN reporter approached him to discuss Lee County’s decision not to have a mandatory evacuation order, considering Lee County was one of the hardest hit. Of course, hindsight is 2020. Now that the storm is passed, it makes sense to have announced a mandatory evacuation of Lee County. But at the time, everyone in charge was doing their best to prepare for the storm based on the information from the storm trackers, which initially didn’t indicate as much concern for Lee County.
DeSantis even brings up the media’s own staging in preparation for storm coverage, which was based on storm tracking and predicting information, which isn’t always perfect. He commends Lee County officials for getting the word out with sufficient time for residents to have time to either evacuate the county or get to a county shelter location. He goes on to cite various other pertinent information regarding evacuations and preparations ahead of the storm. He answers with dignity and conviction, he is articulate, he has his facts straight, and he once again goes to bat for his state and fellow Floridians. This really is an incredible response.

I always find it annoying how Republicans are judged by how far they were from a perfect solution and Democrats are judged by how far they are away from absolute failure. If not for double standards…

Or the Dems are judged by their intentions (which are always good – just ask them, they’ll tell you!), regardless of the actual outcome. Repubs, on the other hand, are only ever judged on the actual outcome, and only then if the outcome is (or can be twisted to appear) bad.
