If you do an internet search on the Fake Meat Industry, you’ll see, “It started as a niche industry but now it’s become mainstream!” right next to “Beyond meat stocks are down 53% this year”. “Fake Meat – Pretty Darn Healthy” will be followed up by, “Fake meat ingredients contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, and land use.” “23% of Americans report cutting back on meat consumption last year” is right next to “Why fake meat is a problem, not a solution“. And my absolute favorite article title – “Fake meat sales plummet over high prices and woke messaging” pops up a number of times.
HA! Who could have seen that coming? Who’d have ever thought if you make a protein substitute that tastes like wet cardboard, charge three times the cost of meat for it, and then tell people they’re bigots if they don’t eat it, that it might not do well in this economy. To date, Beyond Meat stocks have fallen and unfathomable 77%. It’s really not doing so hot.
Polls may show that 23% of Americans are cutting back on meat consumption, but are those polls taking into account that the cost of feeding your family a nice steak for dinner has gone through the roof? Just because they’re not buying as much meat doesn’t mean they’re substituting their chicken wings for unidentifiable gray/brown mystery patties. It sounds like a lot of assumptions were made…
Although, if we have another year of Joe Biden’s “great economic success”, my carnivore family may be reduced to trying Impossible Burgers to get by! Okay, that’s a lie. I’d eat roadkill first. Then perhaps the neighbors’ pets. Maybe after that I’d be willing to try soy based pea and potato patties cooked to resemble hamburgers, but don’t count on it! Either way, I won’t have long to decide.
Concluding a short trial period, McDonald’s will be dropping their “Beyond Burger” from the menu. After being available to the public all year, and after already entering into a three year contract for meatless wonders, McDonald’s execs found that their meatless burgers had only one third of the attention from customers than was predicted. Yeah, that’s rough.
Environmentalists and animal cruelty activists wanted this to be the hot new thing, and they keep pushing it, but the American people are no longer buying it. We’re not putting crickets or meal worms on our salads for protein. We’re not killing thousands of rodents and small animals in the process of making this product and still promoting fake meat processing as a way to “protect animals”. We’re not eating hardened vegetable patties that take up more land in farming than it would have taken to raise pigs and make some ribs. No one is buying the cow fart theory, it’s time to just give it all up.
Some people tried eating the fake meat products, and they were simply sub par. Then they learned that the fake products were more expensive and less healthy than the originals, so there was seriously no reason to buy them. Some of the ingredients haven’t been approved or even identified by the FDA, so why are people already eating them? AND not to mention how fake meat companies have tied themselves to political organizations like BLM and tried to make fake meat consumption the ultimate virtue signaling flex…Um. Are you trying to never sell your fake burgers again? Because that’s definitely how you make sure you never sell another fake burger.
