In this time when almost anything can be construed as racist if you try hard enough, I’m always shocked that leftists don’t realize their own soft bigotry of low expectations. Sure, it’s not as overtly racist as using taboo words or flashing taboo symbols. But when you lower standards, lower requirements, and lower expectations for specific demographics, even in the name of “equity,” that necessarily implies that you think that demographic NEEDS those things to be lowered in order to succeed at all, and that they can’t succeed without your help by lowering the standards. That’s bigotry. But they never seem to recognize it.
Check out this Vox Twitter post that reeks of the soft bigotry of low expectations. “Election misinformation campaigns target Latinos. Pay attention.”

Their article on the subject, which is a response to a historic right-ward shift in hispanic voters, is titled, “Latino voters are being flooded with even more misinformation in 2022.” They go on to say,
“Democrats blamed misinformation for some of their losses with Latino voters in 2020. But the problem is getting more entwined with the party’s failures with Latinos.”
Do you know what this sounds like to me? It sounds like the left is basically saying, ‘Latinos are too stupid to make free thinking and informed personal decisions, so if they’re not voting Democrat, it must be because they’re being manipulated by misinformation.’ That’s what it sounds like. And it sounds majorly racist.
It sounds like it’s easier for Democrats to blame “misinformation campaigns” for losing Latino voters than it is to dignify Latino voters with the intelligence requisite to sift through information and decide who will best represent their values and ideals, and subsequently deciding against Democrat candidates. Again, racist.
It also sounds like they’re basically reducing every single American with hispanic heritage to a voter bloc to be targeted, either by misinformation campaigns or as potential victims of misinformation campaigns. And that’s just plain condescending and diminutive.
A lot of Latino voters have a special perspective about what’s going on in our nation right now. Many of them personally escaped authoritarian governments, and many more dependents of people who escaped authoritarian governments. They see what socialism and communism do to a country and they know the signs. They aren’t interested in voting that into power in the United States, the place they came to escape that devastation. They’re interpreting information, studying their options, and making informed decisions, just like everyone else in this country.
Leftists are some of the most racist people, and they don’t even see it. In case I wasn’t clear, I believe that hispanic Americans are perfectly capable of identifying and sifting through misinformation or manipulation, just like any other person of any other race in this or any other country, and making their own informed decisions about voter issues. Democrats and the leftist media apparently do not.

You nailed it. It seems the dems believe that, if somebody doesn’t vote their way, they must have been misinformed or somehow manipulated. As for Hispanics, most are Catholics/Christian and family oriented. The left’s continued attempts to divide the family unit and pro-abortion stance is antithetic to their core beliefs. It’s obvious that dems are the ones who are misinformed.
Dear god, this is just dripping with irony or is it projection?
