Gun control advocates have been pushing for the financial sector to “help curb gun violence” for a long time. Kathy Hochul, governing over a state with one of the most dangerous cities in the country, recently made this appeal instead of dealing with her own local issues. Elizabeth Warren was also one such urchin, popping her head up from the reservation to weigh in on how these companies should “do more”. That’s rich. Politicians who accomplish so little that their brain cavities are probably developing cobwebs want others to “do more”.
Credit card companies like @Visa, @Mastercard, and @AmericanExpress can and should do more to help stop mass shootings.@RepDean and I are urging these companies to step up and help identify suspicious purchases to prevent gun violence.https://t.co/kkqsYxpmzd

Well the pressure has finally paid off for them. Credit cards companies have acquiesced to demands that they track gun sales. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express will no longer categorize gun sales stores as specialty stores, general merchandise, or miscellaneous. The new code will help them to track and potentially stop your purchase from going through.
People who don’t know anything about guns will be using this code to follow purchases of law abiding citizens so they can look out for anything concerning or suspicious… Is buying ammo monthly suspicious? To them, I’m sure. A $5000 purchase? Is that a machine gun, a safe, or a holster and accessories? Don’t know, mark it as suspicious!
And therein lies just one of the problems. If you spend $200 at Kroger, credit card companies don’t know if this is your regular weekly grocery trip, or you’ve done something weird like buy 50 boxes of cereal because you’ve simply never had them before.
Personally, I wish my credit card company would do a better job of preventing fraudulent activity, like when my card is popping bottles at a nightclub in France at $500 a pop while also buying gas in my hometown. Maybe let’s work on handling that before we trust your judgement of “suspicious activity”.
Call your credit card companies and your representatives if you’re not a fan. In the meantime, I think it’s time for Discover Card to make moves.
The big three credit card companies say they will start tracking gun purchases, making it easier to track gun owners – and to stop sales. Big threat to Second Amendment rights. I want to know from the corporations why they capitulated to the anti-2A lobby pic.twitter.com/lr9tdQPlZj

I have a couple of cousins who own a gun store. While I whole heartedly support the 2nd Amendment, I fail to see what is so funny about selling my wife a handgun. I have explained to them numerous times that if they sell my wife a gun, I will more than likely be her first and only target. These hyenas think this is just hilarious and then offer her a discount, which by the way they have never offered me. One would think they have better things to do then harass their favorite cousin, but no it seems to be a sport with them.
I told my wife she is not allowed to talk to them, but she just laughs and says, “When you become my boss I will consider your advice, until then you don’t get to tell me what to do.”. Well actually she uses a much shorter phase “FU!” and I was just interpreting this term of endearment for those who currently are not enjoying the bliss of matrimony.
Dave Ramsey has a point with regard to using cash instead of credit cards for purchases. This is one of those situations. If someone must use credit cards to buy firearms and ammo, it’s best to use prepaid debit cards instead, since they can’t be traced. I’ve used them to buy ammo. This is the secret of phone scammers. Those scoundrels buffalo unsuspecting victims by telling them they must pay them with prepaid cards, since actual credit card purchases can be traced. We can’t let those gun-hating, elitist scoundrels buffalo us out of our Second Amendment liberty. Its cost, paid with the lives of those who served, (including my paternal grandfather in World War II) is too dear.
This is exactly why I use cash as much as possible. I don’t want the government tracking my everyday purchases. But this is also exactly why I firmly believe that the government will eventually eliminate cash all together. Because they want to be able to track all credit card purchases.
So cash it is. I do hope the online ammunition sellers figure out a way to allow cash purchases.
This is all about creating a backdoor to an illegal gun registry. It will do nothing to stop anything. Buy a gun with cash or check. Just like most idiot solutions the idiots have no idea what they are talking about. A 1928 law makes shotguns with barrels shorter than 18 inches and rifles with barrels shorter than 16 inches illegal. To a criminal a short barreled gun is just a hacksaw away. Newsflash: Criminals don’t follow the law. Only law-abiding citizens follow the law, even when it is stupid.
You didn’t sign up and fight on the battlefield, (plus see your buddies die right before your eyes there) to be told that you can’t exercise the Second Amendment you defended by some snot-nosed elitist, (while they enjoy the services of armed security). I thank you for the innumerable time for your military service.
“you’ve done something weird like buy 50 boxes of cereal because you’ve simply never had them before.”
Why do I feel judged…
Could it be that you’re a “cereal” killer?
