Can we build a wall between California and the rest of the country? If you live in California, I’m sorry, but also, why? I get more annoyed by California and their government every day, and today is no exception.
California is now on their way to becoming a sanctuary state for transgender youth. SB-107 was approved by the California Senate last week and is now on its way to Gavin Newsom’s desk.
Our trans state of refuge bill is on its way to the Governor after just receiving final Senate approval!

SB 107 sends a crystal clear message to the nation that no matter what vile anti-LGBTQ hate laws right-wing politicians think of, California will stand with our community.
This bill prohibits out of state authorities from acting on subpoenas, warrants, or child custody issues. It would also prohibit “a provider of health care, a health care service plan, or a contractor from releasing medical information related to a person or entity allowing a child to receive gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care.”
If it wasn’t already bad enough, it gets worse.
The bill would prohibit the enforcement of an order based on another state’s law authorizing a child to be removed from their parent or guardian based on that parent or guardian allowing their child to receive gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care. The bill would prohibit a court from finding that it is an inconvenient forum where the law or policy of another state that may take jurisdiction limits the ability of a parent to obtain gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care, as defined, and the provision of such care is at issue in the case before the court. The bill would authorize a court to take temporary jurisdiction because a child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming health care. The bill would additionally prohibit a court from considering the taking or retention of a child from a person who has legal custody of the child, if the taking or retention was for obtaining gender-affirming health care or mental health care. The bill would declare its provisions to be severable.
Remember Fantasy Island from Pinocchio where all the kids were just running around doing whatever they wanted and there were no parents or guardians to keep the kids safe? I don’t know, something about California makes me think of that.

California better remember that any abdication of its’ federal responsibilities (such as refusing to follow out-of-state court rulings) is license to other states to not honor their obligations to California.
Yay more bad policy based around even worse science.
