Noblesville, Ind., is the definition of quaint. Historic brick square. Nice people. Lots of family friendly events.
So you can imagine my confusion when I learned there was a controversy over a sex shop—or not a sex shop, depending on whose side you were on.
Enter My Inner Baby, a store that sells adult diapers and adult-sized children’s clothing. And this is the kicker—the store markets themselves as a medical supply shop.
BUT WAIT. IT GETS BETTER.
They ALSO market themselves under the acronym “AB/DL,” which stands for “Adult Baby/Diaper Lover.”
If you haven’t barfed in your mouth yet or completely lost all faith in humanity, you’re a champ. Or maybe there’s something wrong with you.
A quick Wikipedia search of “AB/DL” turns up information on diaper fetishism, which is a “type of garment fetish or paraphilic infantilism. A person with a diaper fetish derives pleasure from the diaper and/or use of it.” So, totally normal stuff here.
Now enter the city of Noblesville. They send My Inner Baby a letter that I’ll paraphrase saying, “No, that’s a sex shop, and your business doesn’t have the proper zoning for that. Please GTFO.”
Well, My Inner Baby disagrees and is clinging to the “medical supply shop” label, and now all the suing is starting.
According to a Facebook post by My Inner Baby, “As you likely know, we’ve been fighting for the survival of our business against the morals of the city of Noblesville. Today (8/10), they made it clear that they would seek penalties of up to $7,500 per day if we keep our store open!”
So, they’re closed (for now). But what makes me want to scream into the abyss the most about this post are the comments of the people defending the store. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for capitalism and free trade. But these products fetishize children. Plain. And. Simple.
“We don’t distinguish, we don’t ask our customers, ‘Hey, what are you coming in here for,’” store owner Ryan Polokoff said in an interview with WRTV.
OH, OKAY. I FEEL MUCH BETTER ABOUT THE WHOLE THING NOW.
Saying you don’t ask what your customers are doing with their creepy dino adult onesies is like telling the cops after your trap house gets raided, “I just sell the drugs, I don’t ask people what they’re doing with them.”
The same dude also closed his “medical supply shop” in July to attend the CAP (Chicago Age Players) Convention—Google at your own risk—so he’s clearly embracing the creepy culture around AB/DL.
I hope the city of Noblesville wins this one. We’ve got enough adult babies running around these days without adding diapers into the mix.

Welcome Haley. It’s nice to see a writer besides Mock who is local to me.
Advocates of aberrant behavior have always pushed for public acceptance. More perverts are getting approval after recent LGBTQIA+ victories. The logic being — if gay marriage is okay, then you can’t restrict gender dysphoria, groomers, drag queens, furries, NAMBLA scum, or presidential hair-sniffers. Our medical and educational institutions, plus political wind-vanes in elected office have the backbones of soggy earthworms and will ignore increasing mental illness among the general population rather than confront it.
Some years ago, there was an article on Michelle Malkin’s and Doug Giles’ blog about an “adult baby” male who threatened to hold his breath if his disability payments were ended. He built himself an adult-sized crib and a highchair; there was a picture of him in the latter, being spoon fed by a woman. With those skills in woodworking, the Big Baby could clean up financially since AB-DL is some kind of niche and people would pay good money for his furniture. Some years ago, COTR ran an article about a 22 year old woman who acted like a baby, complete with a diaper and a pacifier in her mouth.
