This is actually happening:
Today’s children are 30% less aerobically fit than their parents were at their age, a new study found.
— CBS Mornings (@CBSMornings) August 13, 2022
The study points to climate change and rising temperatures adversely affecting childhood obesity, as children spend less time exercising outdoors. pic.twitter.com/26WehoLK9I
Yeeeeeah. It’s gotta be the weather. So y’all should really pony up more of your hard-earned money to the Almighty Government to help with keeping kids from getting fattttter. DO IT, or those 87,000 armed IRS agents are going to (forcefully) come get it from you.
If you want to read the “study,” you can do so here. Have fun with that.
Not sedentary lifestyles, not kids' videogames, not rise of fast food, not COVID-era closing playgrounds, forcing kids to stay inside & making kids more obese and less fit … no, a tiny increase in CO2 and tiny rise in temps drove kids indoors.

This is 🤡🤡🐴💩 https://t.co/va9XxtT71v
They’re coming for Patrick first. THERE WILL BE NO DISSENT, Patrick. Shame on you.
It’s the weather! Can’t you seeeeeee??????? (Side note: I grew up in the South, where it was blazing hot all the time, and I managed to play outside for hours and hours – especially during the summertime, and the heat never deterred me from being active.)
Someone stop the crazy train – I need to get off.

It also has nothing to do with the switch from ‘go play and be home when the streetlights come on’ parenting to ‘kids can’t go anywhere without an adult hovering over their every move’ parenting. A parent of the latter model is rarely going to have the kids outside playing because they don’t have the time/inclination to supervise them…and then the kids don’t get the activity they need. Heck, I shoo mine to the back yard to get an hour of peace and quiet!
And that doesn’t even get into the link of less activity to hyper kids (boys especially) and ADHD diagnoses. That’s a WHOLE other discussion.
But sure….it’s all due to climate change…riiiight…. Hey guys, you forgot to add the ‘fact’ that it’s also due to racism! /s
In 1953 my 7th grade science teacher was Mr. Blair. I have no idea what his politics were. In those days teachers didn’t indoctrinate, they educated. We studied the ice ages, and the warming periods in between. At that time the science was that we were in a warming period, and it would continue for the foreseeable future. (at least a few thousand years) It was forecasted that the pace of warming would increase as it warmed. As for carbon in the atmosphere, plants are going crazy. Carbon is food to them. The atmosphere is 78% nitrogen and 21 % oxygen. The remaining 1% is all the other gases. Of that 1%, 3% is carbon. Of the 3% carbon, 97% occurs naturally and humans only contribute the remaining 3%. Incidentally, Mr. Blair was a Ranger that got shot off of Pointe Du Hoc on-D Day and was one of the best teachers I ever had. Veterans in the classrooms will bring back sanity.
Husbands, “Today Are Fat “Because of Climate Change…”
I have been looking for a study like this forever. This boosters my argument to be on a strict ice cream and chocolate diet.
I skimmed through the study and CBS Mornings didn’t report on it properly. While it is very heavy on the fear mongering, it makes no claims about childhood obesity being caused by climate change but does claim that obese children are going to be more impacted by it.
Good grief I just posted a comment about the “party of science” and their lack of actual scientific method and then I read this…
