I don’t know how much more of this nonsense I can take before I explode.
Now, if police use race as a physical descriptor for a criminal on the loose, that makes them biased and insensitive.
From The College Fix:
A Portland State University student filed a bias complaint against the campus police department for mentioning the race of a potentially dangerous individual on the loose.
“The email uses problematic language to identify the suspect,” the student complained in the report filed with administrators. The student added the language “puts a target on so many campus community member’s [sic] backs.”
Writing that other such warning emails have had similar references to race, the student asked the police department to “reconsider the language used in these emails.”
The “Timely Warning” alert (below) sent by police December 2021 stated there had been two unsuccessful robbery attempts of two separate vehicle operators near campus the previous evening. The suspect was identified as a 20-year old “African American male” dressed in all black and not having any facial hair. The suspect was not masked when the robberies took place.
“CPSO could have said ‘students should be aware of their surroundings…use the buddy system when walking to and from…specific resources to use are this,’” the student wrote in the complaint. “The email seems reckless and could cause serious harm just telling PSU to be on the look out for a general black man.”
Do you know what would really be “problematic?” If the police said nothing, and a student got hurt because they didn’t know what the guy looked like.
This isn’t coming from a place of trying to be “problematic.” The police are looking for the guy. They’re trying to warn you to keep your eyes peeled so you don’t get mugged (or worse).
The case would be the same if the guy was white, black, or purple.
It doesn’t seem like a very hard concept to grasp, but it’s a Gen Z college student making a “bias” report, so I would expect nothing less. . .
Political correctness is ruining the social climate. Now we have people that lose their minds when something doesn’t fit into the little boxes of inclusivity they’ve created. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
The real world sucks. Somewhere along the way we’ve stopped teaching that, and now young people think they’re entitled to whatever they want. We need to reinstitute that lesson. . . and quickly.

When I studied at the same college, we had no problems with race, everyone treated each other with understanding. When has anyone had problems with writing? then everyone helped each other, and when it was impossible to help, the students turned for help to essay services that provided personal essay examples. This is how we all learned, like one friendly family!
$10 says if the suspect had been white and the campus police were looking for a white suspect, that complaint would never have been filed.
When I was in the Navy, one of my last COs made a comment to a room full of Jointservice Senior NCOs. “The younger generation doesn’t see race like you do.” I was immediately pssed off. I think a lot of the room was. For one thing, that is the FIRST thing they see. I had a Sailor who filed a EO complaint. Most of the people in my office were POC. She was this little white girl with blond hair and blue eyes. There was myself and one other who were white. She got miffed because she was given all the sht jobs (garbage, copies, vacuuming, etc). But here’s the thing. SHE WAS THE LOWEST RANKING PERSON in the office. THAT was why she got those jobs. She was an E4, the rest of us were E6-E8s. She thought, that because she’d been there the longest (4yrs), she shouldn’t have do to that stuff. That it was the same as being a senior rank. Here’s the thing. She was getting out. Therefore, she had refused to take the promotion test at least once, because she didn’t want to “take that position away from someone who was staying in”. Then she found out that if she didn’t test, then she couldn’t use the Navy’s Tuition Assistance program for college. So she tested, but purposefully did just enough to pass, but not advance. I told her, look, you want to be treated like a more senior rank, then make the senior rank. Her EO complaint didn’t pan out. But my point is, this CO said that younger generation does not see race or skin color. I’m like, THAT IS THE FIRST PLACE THEY GO when they don’t get their way. I said something to him off line, because I was that miffed. He apologized, but he didn’t change his mind.
I have questions. Is it also “problematic” that the person was identified as “male”? Does it put a target on all males? Can they define what a male is? Cause a “woman” supposedly can’t be defined these days.
Very true.
What are you? A biologist?!?! (sarcasm)
