In a fantastic display of Democrat elitism, cronyism, and wokeism, California Governor and avid climate activist Gavin Newsom will fly a gas-guzzling plane across the entire country to Washington, D.C. in order to accept an “education award” on behalf of his state, which data suggests has the lowest literacy rate of any state in the country. And that’s because this education award isn’t actually about educating Californians, it’s about implementing a woke education agenda.
Mind you, Newsom’s woke climate agenda is apparently momentarily suspended so he can fly to receive an award conveniently timed as speculation increases about a 2024 presidential candidacy for him. It’s like a giant circle of hypocrisy.
According to Capitol Weekly and a report by World Population Review, literacy data out of California suggests,
“Nearly 1 in 4 people over the age of 15 lack the skills to decipher the words in this sentence.”
In their analysis, World Population Review said,
“The state of California and the state Department of Education are being blamed and sued for the failing literacy rate, as families and students believe that they are not receiving a quality education in reading and writing.”
They are ranked 50 out of 50, with 23.1% of Californians being considered illiterate. Despite their abysmal literacy rate, The Washington Examiner reported that California will receive the 2022 Frank Newman Award for State Innovation “in recognition of its coordinated approach to educating all students from preschool to postsecondary, with explicit attention toward whole-child supports and services, as well as its historic financial investments to ensure educational equity.”
And there it is, folks. It’s not about the actual education being received by Californians. It’s not about Californians being able to read, write, and do basic arithmetic. It’s about wokeism. It’s about “educational equity.” And it’s about making sure the Democrat darling Gavin Newsom gets a win he can tout in a potential presidential campaign, despite the numerous abject failures of his gubernatorial administration and the deplorable state of California.

It’s great that Governor Newsom is doing at least something for education, but in some states there is such chaos in schools in the form of homework that it’s just hard to listen to. I have a friend whose child is studying at school in one of these states, but he cannot write all his homework without the help of an essay writer online! This sounds like science fiction, but this is the reality of today.
