Have y’all seen California Governor Gavin Newsom’s Independence Day ad he ran in Florida about not letting conservatives like Ron DeSantis “take your freedom?” Here it is, if you haven’t had the displeasure of watching it yet. But you should, if only for the purposes of juxtaposing it with the next video I share.
We’re about to celebrate Independence Day — but Freedom is under attack by Republican leaders in states like Florida.

Banning books.
Restricting speech.
Making it harder to vote.
Criminalizing women and doctors.
It’s time to stand up. Don’t let them take your freedom. pic.twitter.com/cFI5UzgZzX
If it seems kind of hypocritical for one of the most authoritarian governors in this nation to be lecturing other states about not letting their leaders be authoritarian, that’s because it is extremely hypocritical. And I’m not the only one who noticed.
Vote The R, which touts itself as “a project to culturally revolutionize the brand of the Republican Party utilizing emotion and humor,” saw how hypocritical this ad was and decided to make a parody ad to highlight Newsom’s blatant hypocrisy. And it’s spot on.
"CALIFORNIA FREEDOM" – if we raise more than a 100k, we'll put this on TV in California. Send Gavin Newsom a message from Florida and donate here: https://t.co/nDjZiz7yl5 pic.twitter.com/dRHAh9rFW2

“Don’t let them take your freedom. Come to California where we’ll take it, along with your money.”
