A quick glance at mainstream media content by an open-minded observer reveals overwhelming leftist bias. But Ari Fleischer, former Bush White House Press Secretary, conducted research for his upcoming book Suppression, Deception, Snobbery, and Bias: Why the Press Gets So Much Wrong– And Just Doesn’t Care revealed the astounding leftist bias in the White House Press Corp.
According to a book excerpt obtained by The Federalist,
“Every seat was filled for the first time in over a year as the social distancing rules resulting from the COVID pandemic were relaxed. By a ratio of 12:1, the seats were occupied by Democrats! I guess the good news is that the ratio wasn’t 24:0, like it was during my encounters with students at Columbia Journalism School. It was only 12:1. No matter how you cut it, the White House briefing room does not look, sound, or register to vote like America.”
No, the White House briefing room and mainstream media and journalism generally do not represent America, and their reporting does not represent American interest. Tenured Professor Richard Vatz of Townson University, whose area of expertise is political persuasion and rhetoric, confirmed Fleischer’s findings when he explained to The Federalist that they “[echo] findings over many decades.”
“In major media survey after major media survey [1962-1996], journalists of ‘national media,’ ‘Washington Press Corps,’ etc., were found to be overwhelmingly liberal, and in poll after poll they voted for Democrats.”
Vatz pointed to a State University of California Los Angeles survey from 1982 which found that only 25% of the 1,000 journalists polled had voted for then-President Ronald Reagan, as well as a joint study out of University of Colorado Media Studies Center and Cornell University’s Roper Center from 1995 which found that, of all the “Washington-based bureau chiefs and congressional correspondents” who were polled, 89% voted for Bill Clinton in 1992, with only 7% voting for George H. W. Bush.
Vatz explained,
“The effect on media coverage is that certain topics in major media do not even get covered if they rebound to Republican advantage, and when pro-conservative-interest topics do get covered, they are spun negatively.”
We’ve seen this countless times in the last few years, from overt suppression and denial of major stories like Hunter Biden’s laptop to undeniably leftist overage of topics like COVID or the George Floyd riots. There are still people who incorrectly think that Kyle Rittenhouse shot black men, based off the extremely manipulative media coverage that story got.
What makes this bias so much more dangerous is that these decidedly leftist individuals create decidedly leftist content, yet they continue to pretend that they are objective and unbiased reporters of truth and facts. And naïve Americans continue to believe them.
I was recently told by a family member that he will only watch CNN “because that’s the real news. The facts, without all that biased opinion stuff.” Because he continues to believe that such mainstream legacy media establishments report unbiased, objective, neutral facts and news. He somehow doesn’t realize that their overwhelmingly leftist bias informs which facts they report (and which they exclude), how they frame their story, who they interview, how they structure the interview, what questions they ask, etc.
Their leftist bias is embedded in every aspect of their content, just as my conservative bias is embedded in every aspect of my content. The difference is that I’m at least up front about being overtly conservative, so you know what you’re getting. Mainstream media pretends to represent the values and interest of the American people generally, while the reality is that they are willing slaves to leftist narratives and agendas rather than truth and facts. And it’s unsuspecting and overly-trusting American people who suffer from this overwhelming media bias.

And every one of those “12” are incapable of understanding how the “1” was even allowed in. In their eyes there’s never more than one side to a story.
