I particularly love her on Tiktok, even though that app is the LITERAL WORST (and if you’re a FB insider or Locals supporter then you saw my exclusive video for y’all there about WHY they’re the literal worst – holy crap it was bad yesterday). Anyway, Savvy has this way of explaining things that is just perfect in every way.
Take, for example, her explanation of our constitutional republic, and why the freakout about the “loss of our democracy” is ridiculous.

Slightly disagree with her. She said two branches were to represent the People- only the House represents the People. The Senate represents the States and the President represents the country as a whole (People and States). I think that 17th Amendment has done far more damage than it has fixed.

That’s incorrect. McConnell got rid of the 60 vote threshold for the Supreme Court. Reid did it for lower courts due to McConnell stonewalling of nominations, i.e. subversion of the US government.

No. My argument is that McConnell and the GOP have been playing the long game, subverting democracy to keep control of the government as the minority party. His fuckery with the Judiciary has been front and center in that effort.

The only meaning I can divine when people say “it’s ruining our democracy” is that democracy is rule by the Democrat party.
Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney-Barrett were put on the court through the subversion of democracy by the GOP. The Supreme Court is illegitimate.
