No matter how hard you try to virtue signal for woke radical leftists, it will never be enough. They will always expect more or different or better. One of my favorite examples of this is the following exchange I witnessed on Twitter. A man literally painted his house like a rainbow flag in an epic virtue signal, and it still wasn’t enough because it was the *wrong* rainbow flag, so they were still accused of being exclusive. Can’t exclude “folx” in our virtue signals, you see.
Yes! #DiversityIsOurStrength. However, we want to gently add that these are the old colours that *excluded* folx. The original #Pride colours did not include some folx, e.g. POC. The updated flag since 2018 is below with inclusive colours. https://t.co/cWfO8WZIN8 pic.twitter.com/drgdat0kTf

Well, Burger King is in the same boat, and this just goes to show how willing companies are to blindly virtue signal to try to score some social points with woke radical leftists. They tried SO HARD to virtue signal for pride month and it backfired epically. The ad agency that made Burger King’s same-bun “Pride Whopper” promotion, which allows you to get your burger with either two top buns or two bottom buns, was forced to formally apologize for offending the LGBTQ community as critics felt they “revealed a fundamental misunderstanding about how gay sex works.” “Top” and “bottom” generally refer to sexual positions, so featuring two “tops” or two “bottoms” on a gay burger is offensive and ignorant because it’s inconsistent with an actual gay sexual relationship, where there is both a “top” and a “bottom.”

2) I’m not sure they know how gay sex works
3) I can’t believe @BurgerKing missed the opportunity to do double meat for #pride pic.twitter.com/rGED8Y3TQN
Burger King Austria made a burger to celebrate pride month that's either two tops or two bottoms, but much like being in a gay relationship, it is really helpful to have one top and one bottom.

Burger King’s defense was that it was less a euphemism for sexual positions and more an example of “equal buns” to “highlight equal rights and equal love.” I guess they just didn’t consider the obvious euphemism for “top” and “bottom,” so they missed the mark in a huge way and ended up issuing a formal apology.
“The intended message of the Pride Whopper was to spread equal love and equal rights. Our strongest concern is if we offended members of the LGBTQ Community with this campaign. If this is the case, we truly apologise. We’ve learned our lessons and will include experts on communicating with the LGBTQ community for future work as promoting equal love and equal rights will still be a priority for us.”
I’ll just end with this meme about the reality of woke virtue signaling ad campaigns.
