Biden took the opportunity to pander to Hispanic voters on Cinco De Mayo, as his approval rating with that voting demographic has plummeted. Specifically, his overall approval rating is an abysmal 33% while his approval rating among Hispanic voters is only 26%. I’m sure it’s a devastating blow to a politician who believes so strongly in identity politics. So he thought he’d take the opportunity to promote his legislation about citizenship for illegal immigrants. But, like most everything he does these days, he failed impressively. I’ll write it out for you in case you can make sense of it, because I’m still not sure exactly what his handlers actually wanted him to say.

“Twenty-five out of every 100 children in grades kindergarten through senior in high school speak Spanish. Twenty-five out of every 100. It’s overwhelming the interest of not only those kids but of all Americans that we invest – we invest in the community. And we’ll conquer and honor and lift up, the, all those folks who, in fact, uh, are, have, uh, gotten in the way.”
So, are we trying to conquer someone or honor and lift them up? And who exactly is it that we’re conquering and honoring? I’m not sure even Biden knows the answer. He’s just doing his best to stumble through whatever his handlers told him to say. And I just wan’t y’all to remember that time during his campaign when he pandered to hispanic voters by awkwardly playing “Despacito” on his phone from the podium.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
