To be fair to the red-blooded dudes out there, this post also has Sandra Bullock in it, but MY POINT is that I’m a little burned out by the fact that the world is basically on fire right now with no Actual Firefighters in sight to put it out, and you know what? Today I miss seemingly fluffy, predictable, ridiculous, fun movies like this one:
No, I haven’t seen it. I have no idea when it comes out, but it looks like it’s mindless and fun, and in case there’s anyone else out there who isn’t into all the lame-a$$ movies that have been out lately and the ones that we usually see up for Academy Awards, I thought I’d share. Because lately, I’ve seen too much serious and not enough fun.
And please don’t @ me about Sandra’s or Channing’s or Brad’s political leanings or how Paramount is involved in some underground conspiracy theory and how you need to send me 26 links about it or whatever. Today, I miss the 80s, when Reagan was president and there were nonsensical newly-released movies to rent with my BFFs on the weekends with a big ol’ Dominos pizza. And this trailer sort of reminded me of those days, truth be told.
Anywho, we could always use a distraction from the crazy. Isn’t that what (at least SOME) movies are for? And isn’t that what entertainers are for? They’re supposed to provide a means for all of us audience members to escape a little – to evoke an emotional response. Celebrities nowadays take themselves waaay too seriously (talking to you, Will Smith), many believing they’re somehow pillars of public policy, rather than vessels for our entertainment. I can remember, though, a time when movies were way less preachy and a lot more fun. Can’t you?
Also, Brad Pitt.
