This Isn’t A Wall Of Shame Thing, But It Does Need To Be Addressed

So, if you’ve been watching our videos, you’ve probably heard us mention our presence on Locals.  We’ve been promoting it quite a bit, because of my recent jailtime with Gleeborg 9, which you can read about right here.

Anyway, someone left a comment on one of your YouTube videos today that really irked me.  It said:

I went and checked out locals and it’s disgusting that you can’t even comment or see anything without paying for it. I’m on disability and definitely can’t afford that so I guess when you switch, I’m not going to watch anymore. I understand that you have to make money but you are going to push some people away but I guess who cares because they can’t pay for it anyways. I don’t know which one you thought locals was the best, but you definitely saw dollar signs.

I feel like we’ve been MORE than clear about this, on multiple occasions, but I responded as kindly as I could, as follows:

Coupla things.

1. You CAN see stuff on locals without paying. You can be a “member” which allows you to view content but not comment or see exclusive stuff. That’s exactly how our current FB Insiders group works as well.

2. We are ALL ABOUT a conservative, censorship-free and troll free community. That’s what Locals is, and that’s what it has over FB. We chose it for that reason, not because we’re money hungry, but because we know at some point FB will give us the boot. Likely Youtube will as well. So we are branching out to other places. Locals is just ONE place.

3. No one is demanding that you pay anything to see our content. We have always made it free to everyone. But for those who DO pay, they deserve something extra, and so they’re going to GET something extra. PERIOD.

Beyond those basics, though, I just wanna address the overall tone of that commenter’s message too.

It’s not “disgusting” that people who pay a premium GET a premium. That’s kind of how the entire system of capitalism WORKS.  While I sympathize with people who want things they can’t afford, because believe me, there are PLENTY of things I want that I can’t afford – it makes literally ZERO SENSE to be pissed off at the people selling the things you want but can’t afford.  Especially when those people are already giving you free stuff.

Secondly, not to be crass but you can GFY for saying, “you definitely saw dollar signs” in the clearly snide way you meant it.  Not sure if you’re aware of this, but we actually do need to earn a living.  We didn’t sign up for Locals to be greedy, but we absolutely signed up for it HOPING that it would be another mechanism that would allow us to continue to earn a living.  No one is required to pay to support us there in order to see our videos.  But the people who do support us financially should absolutely get extras.  And that’s what we’re going to try to give them.

You know what this was like?  Imagine if Chick-Fil-A was giving out free chicken sandwiches on Valentine’s Day, but if you paid $5 extra, you would also get fries and a drink.  This guy’s comment would be like if he went to Chick-Fil-A for the free sandwich and got pissed at Chick-Fil-A for giving fries and a drink to the people who paid $5.  WHAT THE LITERAL EFF.

Anyway, if anyone else out there has a problem with me and Daisy earning a living, well…
