An “average white guy” was chosen and asked to stand while a professor at Penn State used him as an example to display how, despite having similar resumes and characteristics, white skin will somehow always benefit over black skin.
Professor Sam Richards teaches sociology at Penn State and, after viewing this footage and listening to the stance that Richards takes, he really sucks at making a decent argument.
All Richards did was list how the white student and black student could be comparable and states, “Russell has a benefit of having white skin.”
Y’all, I really hope a professor attempts this crap on me while I’m in law school next year. I already have my responses prepped. “Gee, do you mind telling me where my white skin privilege was benefiting me while my family and I lived out of our vehicle?” MIC. DROP.
The quality of this footage is crap but this lecture took place just last month.
Penn State Professor pulls an “average white student” from the lecture audience and explains that he has an inherent benefit over a black student because he is white.

All I see is a bunch of race baiting.
Also, if a professor called me bro or sis, I’d be too disgusted to even play the part in this racial charade.
Here’s footage where professor Richards suggests that white people should be asking, “what should we do?”
Penn State Professor brings a white and black student to the front of the lecture and asks the white student how he feels about his white privilege.

Sir, you’re asking the wrong people. You’re simply perpetuating the issue. So long as black students continue to have Affirmative Action in their favor (which is also racist in and of itself) then maybe we can discuss how much more ‘favored’ white students are.
Fox News reached out to Penn State to ask about these clips –
Penn State told Fox News in response to the video that, “Professor Richards purposefully teaches in a manner designed to promote discussion across a spectrum of opinions. His class is a popular elective, in which each semester hundreds (~800) of students join, bringing their varied perspectives.”
“The class is quite balanced with individuals from different ethnic, gender and political backgrounds. Richards and his course colleagues take time to discuss opinions from many perspectives — from liberal to conservative — and the classroom conversation is framed in a thoughtful way; this is supported in post-course surveys among students who have taken the class.”
The Pennsylvania school also noted that “often on social media short snippets are taken out of a longer lecture/class discussion, and at times taken out of context.”
I mean, the context seems to be pretty cut and dry in these clips. Richards purports that whites are favored over blacks. Did I miss something or did he edit out the more offensive claims he made about whites?
In the words of Booker T. Washington –
”I am afraid that there is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don’t want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.”
