Chuck Woolery, who has tweeted questioning the genuineness of the COVID-19 threat, has reportedly deleted his Twitter account after his son was diagnosed with the virus.
This is quite the tail between your legs moment for Woolery, who is a prolific, opinionated tweeter. Woolery is no stranger to controversy and has had his share of drama with The Chicks after they caught him stealing their content for his own website. (See here, here, and here.)
Former game show host Chuck Woolery announced Wednesday his son has tested positive for COVID-19, just days after Woolery accused medical professionals and Democrats of lying about the virus in an effort to hurt the economy and President Trump‘s reelection chances.
Woolery, who hosted several popular game shows including “Love Connection” and “Wheel of Fortune” and who is a staunch supporter of the president’s, has since deleted his Twitter account following the announcement about his son.
“To further clarify and add perspective, Covid-19 is real and it is here. My son tested positive for the virus, and I feel for of those [sic] suffering and especially for those who have lost loved ones,” Woolery tweeted before his account disappeared.
The message comes after Woolery tweeted Monday denouncing “outrageous lies” being told about the coronavirus, comments that Trump retweeted to his more than 83 million followers.
“The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid-19. Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most, that we are told to trust. I think it’s all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I’m sick of it,” Woolery wrote.
The threat of COVID-19 can be serious while also being exaggerated and used for political gain all at the same time. It’s unfortunate if Woolery chose not to continue to defend his viewpoint. There is some speculation on Twitter that his account may have been suspended for spreading “fake news” about COVID-19.
No matter what, I wish his son a complete and speedy recovery
