Fox News reported that Officer Maciejewski from the Sterling Heights Police Department in Michigan was in the right place at the right time.
A frantic mother is seen placing her three-week-old baby in the arms of the officer. The police officer immediately starts CPR on the infant who coughs out the obstruction. The baby began to breathe and was taken to the hospital to be monitored.
The Sterling Heights Police Department released this statement via Facebook:
“Upon pulling up to the home, the officer was rushed by the family who were holding their three-week old baby girl, who was not breathing. Ofc. Maciejewski calmly takes the baby in his arms and performs back thrusts in attempts to clear the baby’s air way. When doing so, the baby coughs up the obstruction, and begins to cry. The baby was then turned over to the Sterling Heights Fire Department who transported the baby to the hospital for evaluation.
“If it wasn’t for Ofc. Maciejewski’s quick, calm, lifesaving actions, the outcome of this incident could have been tragically different. Not only did the officer save the baby, but the officer did an outstanding job consoling the family.
“Once again, the Sterling Heights Police Department strives to provide the best service to our citizens, especially when it matters most!” [sic]
This is what the left would be defunding when they call for “defunding the police departments.” One of my friends said yesterday that he supports the police but also supports defunding them to prevent police violence.
He said he supported increased pay, rotating out of heavy fire positions, adding additional officers, and extended vacation time. When I asked him how he was going to pay for all of this, the conversation went predictably silent.
Most liberals know nothing beyond their talking points. You can’t claim to support the police while simultaneously advocating to strip their funding.
