According to this, three cops who ordered up some Shake Shack milkshakes believe those drinks might’ve been spiked with bleach by workers at the restaurant. These were to-go cups, so, you know, not the kind of cups that needed to be cleaned in advance with any kind of bleach or cleaning substance.
Regardless, the cops immediately could tell that there was something off on their drinks after the first sip. From the source:
PBA President Patrick Lynch wrote that several officers who had been assigned to a protest detail stopped at the Shake Shack.
“At some point during their meal period, the (officers) discovered that a toxic substance, believed to be bleach, had been placed in their beverages,” he wrote.
“The contamination was not discovered until the (officers) had already ingested a portion of their beverages,” Lynch continued. “They are currently at the hospital receiving treatment and are expected to recover.”
He added: “When New York City police officers cannot even take meal without coming under attack, it is clear that environment in which we work has deteriorated to a critical level. We cannot afford to let our guard down for even a moment.”
Amazingly, the NYPD said after it investigated that there was no criminality found by Shake Shack employees. Because I guess now it’s completely normal for three separate cops in uniform to taste bleach in their milkshakes. You know how bleach can be – just randomly jumping into unsuspecting milkshakes and whatnot.
Speaking of cops in NYC, 600 anti-crime undercover cops are being reassigned because they’ve decided that now is the perfect time to remove plain-clothes cops from proactively preventing crime. It’s basically NYPD saying, “HEEEEYYYY criminals! If you don’t see anyone in uniform you are good to go on whatever crime you were about to take part in! YAY!”
From the source:
Police Benevolent Association President Pat Lynch said in a statement Monday, “Anti-Crime’s mission was to protect New Yorkers by proactively preventing crime, especially gun violence. Shooting and murders are both climbing steadily upward, but our city leaders have clearly decided that proactive policing isn’t a priority anymore. They chose this strategy. They will have to reckon with the consequences.”
“That should’ve never been something that was instituted in the first place,” protester Carlos Polanco said. “If the police are here to serve and protect, but they’re undercover in plain clothes intentionally trying to capture individuals, I’m sorry, you’re reducing the amount of illegal things you’re doing.”
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like waaaay too many city and state leaders have collectively taken some sort of anti-common sense pill?
