You wouldn’t think saying a thing such as, “All Lives Matter”, would be controversial. But this is 2020 y’all. And saying “All Lives Matter” is hugely controversial and…racist.
The New York Post reports that NBA announcer Grant Napear has been fired from his radio job and resigned as announcer for the Sacramento Kings after tweeting that “All Lives Matter.”
Fox News reported that Napear resigned on Tuesday following comments he made regarding the Black Lives Matter movement. He’s been calling games for the NBA team since 1988, Fox News added.
Here is the offending tweet.
Hey!!!! How are you? Thought you forgot about me. Haven't heard from you in years. ALL LIVES MATTER…EVERY SINGLE ONE!!! https://t.co/DfzKl3w0jm

Grant Napear was fired by his radio station and resigned as the Sacramento Kings TV play-by-play announcer Tuesday after his tweet that said “All Lives Matter” amid the George Floyd protests was met with backlash.
Napear, a graduate of Syosset High School on Long Island, tweeted “All Lives Matter…Every Single One!” on Sunday after former Kings star DeMarcus Cousins asked the 60-year-old for his view on the Black Lives Matter movement.
The phrase, “All Lives Matter,” is seen by many as mocking the Black Lives Matter movement, which began in 2013 as a campaign against systematic racism and violence toward black people.
Instances like these are why I believe there are WAY MORE Trump supporters and voters than polls reflect. People are rightly afraid to say what they think.
Napear, of course, apologized. Why back down now after you have already lost your job?
In an apology posted Monday by the Sacramento Bee, Napear said he was “not as educated on BLM as I thought. I had no idea that when I said ‘All Lives Matter’ that it was counter to what BLM is trying to get across.”
He has not backed down entirely though. Napear is still defending himself on his Twitter page.
If it came across as dumb I apologize. That was not my intent. That's how I was raised. It has been engrained in me since I can remember. I've been doing more listening than talking the past few days. I believe the past few days will change this country for the better! https://t.co/Gsh84BPBEk

Well that's very unfortunate that you interpreted my tweet that way. I believe every life is precious. Sorry, but that's how I feel. If you can't respect that I'm sorry. https://t.co/9vG2kClo6R

I understand the arguments for why saying All Lives Matter is upsetting to some.
For all you #AllLivesMatter folks that think you’re special. pic.twitter.com/BrRqvYB19V

It’s really a sad commentary on how divided our society has become that saying All Lives Matter is so divisive. But it’s not surprising. We have not valued all lives as a society since Roe v. Wade. We need to unite as one people, rather than dividing ourselves into tribes and groups.
All lives do matter. Including babies. Liberals heads I’m sure explode at this Baby Lives Matter onesie sold at President Trump’s online store.
Finally, take time to watch Joey Salads social experiment that he conducted back in 2016. He went into a “white” neighborhood and held up a Black Lives Matter sign and then went into a “black” neighborhood and held up an All Lives Matter sign. Whoa. No one became aggressive when he held the Black Lives Matter sign. But he is lucky he did not get beaten while holding up the Black Lives Matter sign.
