For those of you who are kind enough to join in our reindeer games on weekday mornings during our FB live videos, you might be wondering why you’re not seeing our happy faces this morning.
There’s a reason. And it’s because of China.
Yup – my son – my boy T-bone, is back in the hospital with another UTI, and because when he first got to the ER Saturday night his fever wasn’t immediately explainable, they did another Covid test on him. He was admitted due to the number of kidney stones he was passing, and of course due to the fever, and once he was admitted I was no longer allowed to be with him.
The doctor on the regular floor was super irritated that he’d been swabbed for Covid again, because as he explained to me on the phone, it’s very common for a 2nd test of a previously diagnosed Covid patient to show up positive again, EVEN THOUGH they are likely not sick or even infectious. And that’s exactly what ended up happening with my poor, sweet boy. His test result came back yesterday, and it was positive again.
Now that his cultures are starting to grow out, his UTI has been confirmed, his fever has responded well to the antibiotics, and he DOES NOT FREAKING HAVE COVID. His chest xray is fine, his O2 sats are fine. He has no Covid symptoms. However, because his test showed up positive, which is exactly what his doctor feared, now we have to wait for the hospital to work with his house to see when he can be discharged. It’s entirely possible that he’ll be forced to stay hospitalized for 14 days, which will completely break my heart into a million pieces because NO ONE can be with him. This is, for those of you who don’t know about my son, a boy with no ability to speak or move on his own. He requires 24 hour care and support, and cannot self-advocate.
It’s so frustrating – I can’t begin to describe it.
Anyway, I blame China because China is to blame for this entire Covid mess.
But that brings me back to why there is no FB live video today. Out of an abundance of caution, I’ve been advised by our radio station that I should broadcast from home until our corporate leaders figure out how to handle this odd situation. So I’m at home, Daisy’s back at the studio, we’re not together, and I’m not even sure if we WILL be together this week. Everything is up in the air right now.
Last time my boy was hospitalized and I broadcasted from home, we were able to figure out a workaround for our videos, but that workaround required Daisy to bring a laptop from home instead of using the one in the studio, because our studio computers are so outdated they’re still running Windows 7, which isn’t compatible with the workaround. And that’s why we aren’t videoing today. 🙁
It sucks. We were really looking forward to catching up with y’all after this long weekend.
We hope we’ll have the workaround up and running tomorrow! In the meantime, if you wouldn’t mind adding my son to your prayer list – and specifically that he’s allowed to bust out of that hospital in the next couple days, I’d greatly appreciate it!
We will definitely be doing another episode of the Mock and Daisy Common Sense cast today, which will be released tomorrow! Stay tuned for that!
