Mike Pompeo Introduces the Newest Member of His Family

Mike Pompeo introduced his family’s new puppy yesterday, and I AM IN LOVE.

The puppy’s name is Mercer.

Mike Pompeo tweeted this about her name:

“She’s named after General Hugh Mercer, who fought in the Revolutionary War and was a close friend of George Washington. Also, my mother’s maiden name!”

General Mercer was a Scottish doctor who fought with the Continental Army. He died at the battle of Princeton and was one of George Washington’s closest friends.

I don’t think that Mike Pompeo naming his dog after the best friend of our first president is a coincidence. George Washington is the face of American freedom, and to many, so is Donald Trump.

I could squeeze them both!

Here are a couple of pictures of my two pups: Tetley and Alfie.

Tetley is named after the English beer (my husband is from England), and Alfie is named after Alfie Shelby from Peaky Blinders. Alfie is a lovable psychopath, just like the character on the show. Plus, my husband couldn’t resist the opportunity to say that he loves a little “T and A.” haha.
