I gotta hand it to Bill De Blasio — the pitiful end of his embarrassing train wreck of a presidential campaign (ahh, remember when that was still a thing?) hasn’t stopped him from chugging along the crazy tracks. He’s committed to leading New York City (the U.S.’s undeniable hot spot for the virus) through the COVID-19 crisis, but instead of trying tactics like, I dunno, actually following the social distancing guidelines he’s pushing, he has a better idea: a “racial inclusion and equity” coronavirus task force.
No, I didn’t dip my hand into an SJW buzzword grab bag. The taskforce is an Actual Thing. And who better to run it than De Blasio’s wife?
That’s right, Chirlane McCray (more like McCraycray) has been appointed to head this bonkers initiative based on her experience working with ThriveNYC, an objective failure of a mental health outreach initiative.
The mayor insisted that the First Lady deserved her place at the head of the new initiative because of the ideas she generated — defying critics and praising her work with her $250 million-a-year mental health plan.
“In terms of fighting inequality, Thrive has gone to that point and in many ways even farther,” he insisted, praising his wife’s work in “putting a light” to serious issues, making her an obvious choice for the new role.
“I think that’s exactly the kind of mindset needed for this task force,” he insisted of his 65-year-old wife.
That’s the same ThriveNYC that pulled out of a mental health event targeting police suicide once they found out it was being co-sponsored by Blue Lives Matter. Stellar leadership right there.
McCray will work with Deputy Mayor Phil Thompson in leading a task force on racial inclusion and equity to make sure the Big Apple rebounds as a “better and more just society than the one we left behind,” Hizzoner said.
Well, maybe First Lady McCraycray is actually the perfect candidate to lead this task force.
She’s going to do a terrible job, but racial sensitivity as it relates to a pandemic is nonsensical, mainly because viruses don’t care about race.
The existence of this task force is sheer lunacy. Wasting any competent person’s time on this would be, well, cray cray.
