You’ve most likely heard of the Netflix hit, Tiger King. The show follows zookeeper Joe Exotic and other exotic animal keepers in his circle. Simply put, it is the Jerry Springer of tiger shows.
Well, today, President Trump was asked about Joe Exotic’s 22-year sentence for his part in a murder-for-hire plot. Joe Exotic has claimed he was unfairly convicted and wants President Trump to pardon him.
“One of the biggest rating hits of the coronavirus, aside from these briefings, has been a show on Netflix called ‘Tiger King,’ and the man who’s the star of this is a former zoo owner who’s serving a 22-year prison sentence,” a reporter said to Trump. “He’s asking you for a pardon, saying he was unfairly convicted. Your son yesterday jokingly said that he was going to advocate for it. I wonder if you’d seen the show, and if you have any thoughts on pardoning Joe Exotic.”
“Which son?” Trump responded. “Must be Don.”
“It was,” the reporter responded.
“I had a feeling it was Don. Is that what he said?” Trump continued. “I don’t know. I know nothing about it. He has 22 years for what? What did he do?”
“He allegedly hired someone to murder an animal rights activist, but he said that he didn’t do that,” the reporter answered.
Trump ended the exchange, saying, “I’ll take a look”. Clearly all of this was in jest. It was nice moment of levity.
And, THANK GOD, Trump was not aware of Joe Exotic. How bad would it look if President Trump was spending time during this crisis watching the lunacy that is Tiger King?
Tiger King has been an escape from the 24/7 coronavirus news cycle while most of the country is stuck at home (or safe at home if you insist).
Siraj Hasmi jokes that about how a pardon of Joe Exotic could turn the 2020 election into a landslide.
