AOC Complains Elected Officials Aren’t Doing Enough While. . . Making a Margarita

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did another Instagram live video, because that’s what politicians do now I guess. I didn’t watch the whole thing, and there’s not enough money in the world to make me watch the whole thing, but I did watch this part:

“In this moment, there’s no such thing as doing too much. I mean honestly, have you ever had a point in your life where the federal government did too much for you? Where they gave you too much? Never happened to me! I’ve never seen that in my life! Umm. . . I never had too many scholarships, you know, I– we never had too many people, uh, that got relief. Puerto Rico never got too much aid. But anyways. I digress. I’m sure there are many Republicans that are of that opinion.”

Um, yes, AOC, there are plenty of Republicans (and libertarians, and independents, likely some Democrats too) of that opinion. Do you know why? Because it’s NOT THE GOVERNMENT’S JOB TO GIVE ME EVERYTHING I WANT.

The polar opposite of JFK indeed. Forget about helping your fellow neighbor, donating, or any of that, says AOC. Demand that YOU get more. For free. Because you want it.

AOC then goes on to explain how she’s making this margarita, because that’s what you want your representatives to do.

I’m not going to critique her technique, because to be quite honest margaritas are one of the few cocktail staples I just have very little experience with (I learned to tend bar at a whiskey distillery in Ireland), but there are three things I want to point out:

1. She’s using Cointreau, which is at least three times more expensive than your average run of the mill triple sec. I don’t blame her for using quality ingredients (even though she’s also using bottled lime juice, which to be fair, I sometimes do as well), but it does seem a little hypocritical when you consider her political leanings and how much she likes to pretend she is/was poor and struggling. Am I being really petty about this? YES. SOOOOOO PETTY. But she wants to ruin America so hard that she’d better bewilling to live out her sh*tty ideologies and she’s not, so imma be petty.
2. What kind of bartender has to double check the measurements on their jigger?
3. Blended margarita? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
