Last week, Daisy and I did our weekly podcast on Kung Flu (because let’s face it – that’s all anyone is talking about right now with the possible exception of Tiger King), and the various reactions to it. We touched on the ridiculous Gal Gadot-led singathon which many celebrities participated in, and we also talked about the idiot couple in FL who ate fish tank cleaner, and we also talked about some personal experiences with parenting in the age of Chinese flu (or, what my mom refers to as Xibeast).
It was a really good episode, y’all, and I hope you listen to the entire thing. Below, please find a couple of clips from it, as well as the full podcast for your listening pleasure.
Meantime, as those of you who listen to our daily radio show know, we have been off this week – it was meant to be a mini spring break and respite from all of this virus stuff. Unfortunately, as you may know if you follow me on IG, it’s been anything but respite for my family, as my eldest son (who has CP and requires 24 hour care) was hospitalized Sunday night with a 104 degree fever and some coughing. We are STILL waiting on a Xibeast test result – it’s unreal how long it’s taking – and until it comes back he is stuck there ALONE, without anyone to advocate for him or keep him company. Anyway, it’s a long, miserable story that I’m not going to get into more detail here about, except to say that I don’t think he has the virus, and it’s most likely that he’s battling a UTI that is on the mend.
The reason I bring it up at all here is simply to say that there’s an important message that is at the heart of last week’s podcast episode – and that is that now more than ever is the time for us all to extend a little grace to others. I’ve been trying to do that with the less-than-stellar nurses who initially took care of my son, and I’m continuing to try to do it with the lab who still hasn’t processed his test.
(Side caveat: I extend ZERO GRACE TO CHINA.)
Also, because there have already been judgey mcnosyhags who’ve made snippy comments on the clips that we’ve posted from our podcast on FB, you should know before you listen to the episode that the date my kid went to play lacrosse was March 20, THREE DAYS before our governor issued a stay-at-home order. So if you’re judging my decision to let him go, you can suck it. 🙂 I have zero percent interest in your judgment.
Back to the clips and episode. It was a really good one, y’all. Enjoy!
