As part of its coronavirus response measures, Texas put a stop to all elective surgery, which included abortions. This is a move that Democrats and abortion lobbyists have denounced as inhumane because nothing says saving lives like killing babies, these people are sick.
The lower supreme court ruled against Texas yesterday, saying that it was likely unconstitutional. The Hill reported that U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel said, “regarding a woman’s right to a pre-fetal-viability abortion, the Supreme Court has spoken clearly. There can be no outright ban on such a procedure.”
Luckily for these babies and the healthcare workers that could use the supplies, the appeals court upheld The State of Texas’ right to ban abortions to fight the growing coronavirus pandemic.
In the same report from the Hill, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals issued the temporary stay to allow Texas to enforce the ban. The State’s arguments for the ban stated its need to “conserve medical supplies for health workers on the front lines of the coronavirus response.” The appeals court voted 2-1 in favor of the stay.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton released a statement saying in part, “The temporary stay ordered this afternoon justly prioritizes supplies and personal protective equipment for the medical professionals in need.”
There has been a debate among states whether abortion facilities should be considered an essential business.
Many conservatives are asking why abortion clinics are considered critical companies even though the procedures are considered elective, but pastors of Christian churches are being arrested for holding Sunday services.
It doesn’t seem right that I can’t receive the Eucharist on Sunday, but I could murder my baby on a Tuesday.
