While I know the potato soup portion of this is a bit of stretch, I’m not even going to pick it apart. I think it’s a beautiful message and an even more beautiful resolution.
According to Breitbart:
“I beat the coronavirus,” Geneva Wood, of Kirkland, Washington, told Good Morning America. “I have a lot to live for, and God gave me the strength to do it.”
Wood, a mother of five, lives independently in an apartment. But she spent the first few months of 2020 recovering from a stroke in a nursing home called Life Care Center, the facility responsible for the epicenter of the U.S. coronavirus outbreak.
Just days before she was ready to be discharged from the nursing home, she fell and broke her hip on March 4.
Two days later, she contracted the coronavirus, according to one of her daughters, Cami Neidigh.
Doctors doubted the likelihood of Geneva Wood surviving this, especially considering 35 others had already died from the coronavirus in the Life Care Center.
She was kept in isolation at the hospital, where Wood’s children took turns visiting her one at a time, to follow the social distancing protocol there. The children made a batch of her favorite potato soup and always had it prepared when Wood would request it.
Wood stated that potato soup was her comfort food and it was the one thing she would always eat whenever she got sick because it had all the nutrients she needed and it calmed her down
According to ABC News:
Wood could not return to a nursing facility because of her brush with COVID-19, so Neidigh and her siblings are currently providing around-the-clock care for her mother at her home. She has a residual cough due to damage to her lungs, but is otherwise healthy and on the road to recovery, according to Neidigh.
