Coldplay is one of my favorite bands of all time. My husband introduced them to me while we were in college. Growing up, I listened to primarily Texas country, and a lot of my childhood memories are associated with those songs.
Coldplay is one of those bands that I must ignore everything about except for when they put out music. I don’t agree with their politics but love their music.
When I was in college, the first concert I ever attended was a Coldplay concert. I got tickets for my new boyfriend’s birthday. That boyfriend became my husband and the father of my four children. This concert was the first time my husband told me he loved me.
When I listen to their music, I am reminded of the love I felt for him when my only care was what I was going to wear out that night. Their music means simple times, and sweet, simple love.
My family took a trip a couple of years ago to England to visit where my husband grew up. While there, I planned a surprised trip to see Coldplay play at Wembley Stadium in London. It is an experience I’ll never forget. Seeing how happy this made my husband and how their music came to life was remarkable.
Every song brought a flood of memories and emotions that I haven’t experienced with any other band in my adult life.
As this virus and news about this virus consume our life, I love how our country is coming together. Politicians want us to continue the divisive nature we were used to before the virus. Instead, we are seeing celebrities reading children’s books, zoos are live streaming the animal enclosures, and bands like Coldplay are offering free live-stream concerts. The world can show its beauty. We just have to look for it.
This live stream of his songs yesterday will be continued by a different artist every day.
My husband and I watched as we were going to bed last night, and it felt as though we were watching a private concert of some of our favorite songs.
Please enjoy:
