White House Easter Cancels Historic Easter Egg Roll — the 142nd in the Nation’s History

The White House, in coordination with the Office of the First Lady, has decided to cancel the historic annual Easter Egg Roll. The cancelation of the Easter egg roll comes in the hopes of limiting the spread of the coronavirus. President Trump has also canceled his upcoming rallies, and the CDC has asked Americans not to gather in groups of more than 50 people.

The Easter Egg Roll was scheduled for April 13th on the South Lawn of the White House.

“According to the White House, the Easter Egg Roll dates back to 1878, when Rutherford B. Hayes was president. There was a lapse in egg rolls from 1917 to 1920 and again from 1943 to 1945 due to World War I and World War II. There were also no celebrations from 1946 to 1952 because of food conservation and construction at the White House.”

This would have been the 142nd Easter Egg Roll in our Nation’s History.

What a crazy time to be alive. We need to remember to spread kindness, love, and compassion while our country seems to be hell-bent on hoarding, blame games, and fear.
