To Our Democrat Friends: Stop Enabling the DNC

So, let’s get this out of the way, our beloved readers at Chicks on the Right aren’t exactly the target audience for this post. This post is my feeble attempt to grab Democratic voters by the shoulders and shake them, shouting, “WAKE UP, SHEEPLE!” in as un-cliche a manner as I can manage. But surely we haven’t been unfriended by ALL the Democrats in our lives, and if you, dear readers, were to share this piece and/or the sentiments within, it would presumably make it to SOME liberal ears, and so this is for them. This is for the Sensible Democrats– and despite all our jokes suggesting otherwise, we know there’s more of them than there are Crazies.

Phew. With that out of the way, on to the point: @ Registered Democrats, STOP ENABLING THE DNC.

After Super Tuesday, Bernie Sanders’s chances at winning the primary became a lot weaker as Joe Biden swept a lot of major states and came out the night’s clear winner. At this stage in the game (with two of the oldest, crustiest, whitest men in America duking it out for the nomination of the party of inclusivity and diversity), anyone who still thinks Bernie may become the nominee is kidding themselves. The DNC, by whatever means necessary, is going to give y’all Joe Biden, and you’re going to vote for him. Here’s why.

Joe Biden is the status quo. For the DNC, the status quo means they get to keep their power. Their influence. Their money. Nothing is going to change dramatically under Joe Biden, and that’s GOOD for the DNC. That’s why they’re setting him up for success after their string-pulling for Bloomberg backfired so dramatically. Whether Joe Biden’s nomination reflects what you, the voters, want is immaterial. But I think you know that, because. . .

The DNC will never let Bernie Sanders win. I’m not going to rehash what happened in 2016, because we all remember and many of us are still butt hurt over it. Which is fair enough– the DNC blatantly stacked the deck in Hillary’s favor and got away with it. They didn’t even try to hide it (but more on that later). But maybe you’re thinking, hey, with all the turnover after it became patently clear that the DNC was actively conspiring against Bernie, the new DNC will be different! Spoiler alert, it won’t, and I know this because. . .

The DNC is punishing Tulsi Gabbard. Yeah, heads up by the way, there’s still a woman (of color, nonetheless) in the race. You’d be forgiven for forgetting it, though, since the DNC, mainstream media, social media, and Clintons (to name but a few) have been hell-bent on erasing her from the primary pretty much since she announced her candidacy. How? Well, the DNC consistently squashes her ability to appear in debates; the mainstream media largely ignore her and refuse to give her coverage; Google throttled her ads during the debate in which she singlehandedly destroyed Kamala Harris’s chances at being the nominee; and Hillary Clinton straight up called her a Russian asset. I won’t go into too much detail here, but by all means check out the links– I don’t put them there for my own amusement.

Okay, so, why? Gabbard has been a long shot candidate from the start (more’s the pity, but no one asked so I’ll leave it for now) and, with the exception of demolishing Harris, hasn’t had much of an impact on the race. But in 2016, Gabbard backed Bernie Sanders. Not only that, though, she quit her position as Vice Chair of the DNC and blasted them over their election meddling in Clinton’s favor.

“The DNC secretly chose their nominee over a year before the primary elections even occurred. This shines a light on how deeply broken our campaign finance laws are, and how they’ve weakened individual candidates while strengthening and empowering political parties and special interested,” Mrs. Gabbard says in a video she blasted out Friday. “These laws allowed the Clinton campaign to bypass individual campaign contribution limits by funneling millions of dollars through the DNC and state parties — taking control of the DNC in the process.”

“No more games, no more retaliation, no more picking of winners or losers — we must act now to take back our party,” she said.

Ouch. That’s gotta sting– and evidently still does four years later, given how thoroughly Gabbard has been f*cked over by the establishment. The DNC hasn’t changed since 2016, and it won’t, because they keep getting away with it. And that’s the really important part, and where you, the voter, comes in, because. . .

The DNC, with help from the mainstream media, has whipped the country into such a frenzy over Donald Trump that they can do whatever they want. Bear with me, I’m going to hearken back to Gary Johnson in 2016 on this one, but it’s a quote worth sharing:

“Thanks to two candidates who are each running on a platform of not being the other, we are in historically uninspiring territory.”

The reason I bring this up is because I reckon many of you Democrat voters– not all, surely, but plenty– voted for Hillary Clinton not because you wanted her to be president, but because you didn’t want Donald Trump to be president. There’s nothing really wrong with that; I know plenty of people who did, and plenty more who voted for Trump just because he wasn’t Clinton.

But the difference is this. Mainstream media wasn’t shouting at us at all hours that Hillary Clinton was going to take away our basic human rights.* No one rushed out to get IUDs because they were told Hillary Clinton was going to make it illegal.

*Those links are more recent because there’s about 193198341063 articles about how terrible Trump is and listen, we all know they’re there, I’m not going to comb through four years of articles to find some from 2016 because I respect myself and my time more than that.

And now that Trump is president, his entire tenure has been plagued with investigations, probes, and impeachment trials that, regardless of whether you believe they were valid or not, have succeeded in nothing except wasting taxpayer money. The Democratic party is demonstrably tied in with the mainstream media in ways that are at best questionable and at worst bordering on illegal. Between the two of them, they’ve embarked on a 5+ year campaign of whipping the country into a frenzy over Trump, convincing voters that nothing more evil or vile could ever be elected to office, and profiting from the resulting “Vote Blue No Matter Who” philosophy.

Because if the DNC can convince you that whomever they run is better than Trump, they can get away with handing you Joe Biden. They can get away with using your complacency to keep the power in their hands, because they’ve made the prospect of a third party run too terrifying to even contemplate. They can get away with shafting Bernie two elections in a row regardless of voter preference because ultimately, they’ve convinced their constituents that anyone/thing is better than Trump.

And maybe you’re still convinced that nothing IS worse than Trump– if so, that’s your prerogative, and I won’t hold it against you (unless you’re a prick about it, but then I’ll be holding the fact that you’re a prick against you, not that you’re an anti-Trump prick). But the reality of the day is that the US economy is doing really well. We’ve engaged in historic peace talks with hostile nations. It’s truthfully never ever been better to be an American. Whether you attribute any of that to Trump or not, you can’t reasonably argue that he’s sent us into a dystopian totalitarian nightmare. That’s demonstrably false.

My point isn’t that you should go out and vote for Trump. My point is that if you compare what the harbingers at CNN or MSNBC have been foretelling for the past half decade to the measurable, objective reality of being alive in March 2020, it doesn’t match up. And maybe, just maybe, if you push back against the DNC, demand structural change from your party, and lose the 2020 election as a result, you could end up profiting in the long run by reforming a party that doesn’t work in your interests and frankly hasn’t in a long time.

I know it sounds like I’m trying to trick you into handing Trump the election, but I’m not. I, Rachel S, independent of COTR, almost exclusively support third parties. I have a big problem with the two party system, and both the parties in it. I want to see a national government that actually represents its constituents, and the DNC is not doing that. I’d like to see that change. Wouldn’t you?
