COTR readers, it is finally happening!
Donald Trump’s re-election campaign is doing something substantial to fight the libelous mainstream media.
Donald Trump’s campaign is suing the New York Times.
The suit claims that the New York Times “knowingly published false and defamatory statements of and concerning plaintiff Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.” It says that the NYT claimed that Trump had a deal with Putin’s oligarchy to help him beat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. In exchange for the help, the Trump administration would start “a new pro-Russian foreign policy, starting with relief from the Obama administration’s burdensome economic sanctions.”
Trump’s campaign claims in the suit that “The Times was well aware when it published these statements that they were not true.” The campaign says that Times’ had reported previously that these claims were false but decided to publish the opinion piece anyways to “mislead its own readers.”
The Trump Campaign’s statement reads as follows:

The motive seems clear to anyone with eyes and ears; the mainstream media used their platform to try and take down Donald Trump’s campaign. They then continued to use their platform to create smear campaigns for the next four years. We have been fighting against this well-funded machine as best we can.
The Hill, a liberal media company, has already responded by writing an article full of inflammatory statements made in the opinion piece featured in the libel suit by Max Frankel.
This is the last paragraph written in the article:
“There was no need for detailed electoral collusion between the Trump campaign and Vladimir Putin’s oligarchy because they had an overarching deal: the quid of help in the campaign against Hillary Clinton for the quo of a new pro-Russian foreign policy, starting with relief from the Obama administration’s burdensome economic sanctions,” Frankel wrote. “The Trumpites knew about the quid and held out the prospect of the quo.”
The bias here is so flagrant. The difference in publications like The Hill and Chicks on the Right is that we put our preference directly into our name, and you must read their articles to find out where they lean politically. The scary thing about liberal media bias is that these companies claim to be taking neutral positions. They claim only to give the facts unless the article is labeled opinion. If you are new to politics and read the article, you might believe the drivel written inside. These publications fuel hatred for Trump and his supporters.
As conservatives in a small media company, we do the best we can to give our readers the other side of the message pushed by mainstream media. We deliver factual pieces that are slanted to the right because our readers deserve to hear breaking news that isn’t formed to make the liberal media’s narrative. The fact that Trump has been able to fight back before he leaves office gives me hope that this ship can correct the course. Maybe mainstream journalists can be journalists again and not political hitmen that they have become.
