BREAKING: Jussie Smollett Indicted by Prosecutor In Chicago

Finally some reprimanding for false charges!

As Fox 32 Chicago reported:

Former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was indicted Tuesday in Chicago by special prosecutor Dan Webb, stemming from the alleged racist and anti-gay attack on him that occurred in January of 2019, a source confirms to FOX 32 News.

This is precisely why we can’t simply believe everyone. Not only does it cause others to take responsibility for something they shouldn’t, but it also incurs a level of hesitation and fear for those to report when they actually are a victim.

Just to refresh your memory:

Smollett told Chicago police last year that two men physically attacked him and yelled racial and homophobic slurs. But prosecutors insist Smollett faked the racist, anti-gay attack on himself in the hopes that the attention would advance his acting career.

Prosecutors were able to prove that it was all a publicity stunt, but all charges against Smollett for false reporting were dropped in March of 2019 with minimal explanation.

When dropping cases, prosecutors will sometimes insist that the defendant accept at least a measure of responsibility. Outside court, neither Smollett nor his legal team appeared to concede anything about his original report in January.

Many legal experts were surprised by the dismissal, especially the fact that it did not include any condition that Smollett apologize and admit he staged the assault.

As far as I’m concerned, no one is above the law, no matter how you try to turn the laws inside out just to fit your narrative. Additionally, charges should be thoroughly delineated irrespective of the person being charged; charges aren’t supposed to be fluid concepts.

The TV show “Empire” no longer has Smollett appear and his court date is set for February 24th.
