Members of the left and the media (but I repeat myself) are convinced that the U.S.’s recent takedown of Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani will propel us into World War III.
The talking point became so popular, #WorldWarIII started trending on Twitter.
In fact, Americans got so concerned about a potential war and how it might affect them, they crashed Selective Service website.
All men aged 18 to 25 are required to register for the Selective Service, which keeps tracks all Americans who could possibly be drafted, in the event the U.S. were to reinstitute a military draft.
The U.S. hasn’t had a draft since 1973.
Apparently, there was also some misinformation floating around whether filling out the FAFSA would increase your odds of being conscripted. The Federal Student Aid twitter account was quick to dispel that myth:
I can’t help but think most of this frenzy is not more than the result of media fear-mongering.
Yes, tensions with Iran are high right now. But that does not mean we’re going to war – of, if we did, that another draft would necessarily occur.
Have you checked your Selective Service Registration recently?
