Transgender Nike Employee Sues Company For Not Protecting HER Preferred Pronouns Of They/Them/Their

Do you know how many times I had to read this article because I kept getting lost at its use of “they/their/them?”

I kept thinking that I missed an important detail involving another individual… because, they/their/them pronouns signify plurality.

As Willamette Week reported:

Jazz Lyles specified they were transgender and wished to be referred to by the pronouns “they/them/their.” But Nike employees allegedly disregarded Lyles’ requests.

Jazz Lyles, a former computer engineer at Nike’s Beaverton headquarters, has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the sportswear giant.

The lawsuit, filed this week in Multnomah County Circuit Court, alleges Nike and Mainz Brady, an IT staffing firm based in San Mateo, Calif., exposed Lyles to gender identity-based discrimination and harassment and retaliation. (Mainz Brady didn’t respond to a request for comment.)

Sorry, but if you need to disrupt your JOB DUTIES to demand that you are called by your subjective sense of self by everyone else, then you’re not confident enough in your own belief.

Emails and other electronic messages show Lyles politely but firmly communicated with peers and managers, seeking to help them understand why being referred to by the correct pronouns was important. One colleague responded by greeting Lyles, “Hey, girl, what’s up?” Another told them that using Lyles’ pronouns was against her religion.

Oh my, someone alert the elders! Someone politely greeted her by her biological pronoun?

SEND IN THE TROOPS! THERE’S SO MUCH VIOLENCE!

Give me a break.

That’s like an atheist getting offended by someone saying, “Bless you” when they sneeze.

Feeling bullied by people being accustomed to the English language for which they have known for the entirety of their lives, then bullying them to change their ways?

Get your double standard talons out of my freedom of speech (which, yes, includes the freedom to disagree with you).

You can feel however you want about yourself but it is of no one else’s obligation to validate you.

Blinded by science and wounded by pronouns, making BANK at a shoe company… what a hard life.

Let’s all go together and inform the children in China who do a lot of the leg work. I’m sure they’ll be purely riveted.
