As I mentioned yesterday, Rep. Sean Duffy announced his resignation from Congress yesterday.
According to Daily Wire:
Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) announced on Monday that he would be stepping down from Congress in late-September, halfway through his fifth term.
“Recently, we’ve learned that our baby, due in late October, will need even more love, time, and attention due to complications, including a heart condition,” Duffy wrote in a statement to The Hill. “With much prayer, I have decided that this is the right time for me to take a break from public service in order to be the support my wife, baby, and family need right now. It is not an easy decision – because I truly love being your Congressman – but it is the right decision for my family, which is my first love and responsibility.”
“On September 23, I will step down and allow others to step forward to begin laying our their own vision and plans for leading this beautiful district and the most honest, hard-working, family-oriented, patriotic, and God-fearing constituents in America,” the statement continued.
Our prayers are with that baby and the entire Duffy family.
Sean and Rachel appeared on ‘Fox and Friends’ this morning to talk over the difficult decision:
“Not long ago we found out that our little baby has a couple of holes in the heart,” Duffy told “Fox & Friends.”
“So after she’s born, whether it’s two to six months… she’s going to need open-heart surgery. They got to crack her open and fix the heart. They walked us through this yesterday. So I announced I was leaving Congress as I was walking in to meet with the heart doctor.”
Rachel, a MOTHER OF NINE, also chimed in:
“Every congressional family… we all talk about work-life balance for our families. It’s a really tough thing to do,” she said. “It’s tough if you have two kids. It’s really rough with nine… I feel really proud of what Sean’s done in eight-and-a-half years in Congress. I think the Republicans have saved American capitalism.”
Yeah… I have absolutely no idea how you find balance with NINE KIDS… but God Bless ‘Em!
