Multiple people at the PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta were injured by a lightning strike early Saturday evening.
According to reports, the lightning struck near the practice range at East Lake Golf Club at about 5 p.m. after play had been suspended nearly 45 minutes prior due to thunderstorms. Players were removed from the course at that time, and fans were asked to seek shelter.
Footage from a bystander shows the moment the lightning struck a spot on the range where several attendees were gathered. The lightning appears to strike a tree just off the 16th tee, causing it to shatter.
There’s no report yet on the seriousness of any of the injuries.
