Mitch McConnell Claps Back at AOC

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is probably not having a great week.  First, he fell at his Kentucky home and fractured his shoulder.  Then, in the wake of this weekend’s shootings, protesters supporting gun control gathered outside his home, making loud noises and shouting things like “No Trump, no KKK, no Fascist USA” and calling McConnell “Murder Turtle.”

One lovely woman was on Facebook Live wishing someone “just stabs the mother f*cker in the heart, please.”  #MoscowMitchMassacre trended on Twitter.

But sure, McConnell is the problem.

Anyway, none of that kept the Senator from absolutely owning AOC on Twitter this morning.  Last night, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex tweeted at McConnell about a picture of a group of young guys in “Team Mitch” t-shirts pretending to choke and  grope a cardboard cutout of AOC.

Let’s clarify something here: just because someone buys your shirt does not mean that you condone their actions, or even know they exist.  It’s not like Ol’ Mitch hands out these exclusive shirts to his employees.  In fact, literally anyone can go buy their very own Team Mitch shirt right now.  Or, by AOC’s own logic, we could go buy shirts with her name or face, then blame her for our actions.

Her entire premise is stupid, and she knows it.

Senator McConnell issued a statement in response to the photograph, and it’s solid gold:

No one is condoning the actions of those boys.  But I’ll admit it, I love when AOC tries to dish it, and it’s thrown back into her face.
