Holy crap. Are pickings in Minnesota really this slim?
According to the sourcelink, Danielle Stella, who’s 31, is running for Congress against Ilhan Omar, specifically on an anti-crime platform.
Danielle is a pro-Trump Republican, and you can watch her campaign video right here:

There’s also this interview of her I found on YouTube:

Danielle is a special-ed teacher who has been arrested twice THIS YEAR for stealing from Target and a grocery store in Minneapolis.
Sigh.
I know I know. Innocent until proven guilty. But the circumstances surrounding these incidents don’t particularly inspire confidence.
Stella was arrested for the first time after Target staff saw her scanning only a few of the items in the self-checkout line (allegedly) which totaled around $50. However, she actually got over $2300 worth of inventory. When arrested, she told the officers that she suffered PTSD and didn’t remember anything beyond ARRIVING to the Target store, and that she usually came to the store accompanied because of her anxiety.
Sounds just like someone you want representing you in Congress, amirite?
She’s been charged with felony theft for that, and if convicted she could get 5 years in prison. There was an outstanding warrant for her arrest because she failed to show up to court in April for that charge, which was discovered when police arrested her AGAIN when she was caught stealing cat food and “cat merchandise” from a Cub Foods.
Danielle’s response? “I am not guilty of these crimes. In this country I am innocent until proven guilty and that is the law.” She texted that statement to the Guardian. She went on to say, “If I was guilty of crimes, I would never run for public office, putting myself in the public eye under a microscope to be attacked by all political sides.”
The fact remains, however, that she IS running for office despite being arrested twice for shoplifting, which already puts her under a microscope by all political sides, which is not something that is remotely helpful when we want to get rid of the nightmare that is Ilhan Omar. I mean, I appreciate her earnestness and agree with her wholeheartedly about how awful Ilhan Omar is, but we need someone who can WIN.
Which begs the question, is this the best Minneapolis has to offer? A twice-arrested baby-voiced woman with anxiety issues? SERIOUSLY?
I need coffee.
