WATCH: Ocasio-Cortez accuses the United States of running concentration camps
On a late-Night Instagram live video, AOC claims the Trump administration was operating”concentration camps” on the southern border.
Her egregious comments have understandably come under fire. Among those pushing back was Liz Cheney, who tweeted the following:
Please @AOC do us all a favor and spend just a few minutes learning some actual history. 6 million Jews were exterminated in the Holocaust. You demean their memory and disgrace yourself with comments like this. https://t.co/NX5KPPb2Hl

“Please @AOC do us all a favor and spend just a few minutes learning some actual history,” Cheney tweeted to Ocasio-Cortez. “6 million Jews were exterminated in the Holocaust. You demean their memory and disgrace yourself with comments like this.”
She’s absolutely right.
But Ocasio Cortez, never one to back down, let ALONE admit wrong-doing, dug her heels in and fought back:
Also @Liz_Cheney, the fact that you employed the horrifying word “exterminated” here (co-opting the language of the oppressor) tells us that it’s *you* that needs to brush up on your reading.
Hope you enjoy defending concentration camps. I won’t back down fighting against them. https://t.co/OOfrrfa1Ew

Ocasio-Cortez responded: “Also @Liz_Cheney, the fact that you employed the horrifying word ‘exterminated’ here (co-opting the language of the oppressor) tells us that it’s *you* that needs to brush up on your reading. Hope you enjoy defending concentration camps. I won’t back down fighting against them.”
WTH is she doing? This is CLEARLY a defense mechanism. One that comes off as unbelievably disingenuous.
She doubled down on this ridiculous line of thinking in an interview later that day:
Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is angry that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) correctly described the horrors of the Holocaust by noting that the evil Nazis systematically targeted 6,000,000+ Jews for extermination pic.twitter.com/iAzYGxrAL2

“She used the term ‘extermination’ which is co-opting the language, eh, of that. You know, that term implies that the people who died in the Holocaust, it, it doubles down on the rhetoric that justified it. So, I think it’s, uh, I mean I think she’s the one that needs to do her homework.”
Yiiiikes. She sounds rather nervous, doesn’t she?
This is a load of crap, meant to deflect from for egregious her own comments here. You know who ELSE used that ‘language?’ Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986.
Here is what he said at a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz:
I speak to you as a man, who 50 years and nine days ago had no name, no hope, no future and was known only by his number, A7713.
I speak as a Jew who has seen what humanity has done to itself by trying to exterminate an entire people and inflict suffering and humiliation and death on so many others. [Emphasis added]
SO… is AOC going to claim Ellie Wiesel needed to have done his homework, too?
Is she going to claim he was doubling down on the language that “justified it?”
Clearly, Alexandria knows SO much more about the holocaust that HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS do, right?
What a pathetic little moron she is.
