One aspect of the illegal immigration debate that’s often overlooked by the left? The reality of what the children go through. No no–we’re not talking about made-up narratives about mistreatment from ICE agents. We’re talking about the adult migrants who essentially use sweet little children as pawns.
It’s happening.
According to this report from Breitbart, a Guatemalan man “rented” a child to accompany him in hopes of crossing the border and getting sympathy by faking the “family” card.
Prosecutors said Maynor Velasquez Molina paid $130 to the family of an 8-year-old boy so he could pretend the boy was his son when they entered the United States.
Velasquez and the boy crossed the border west of Lukeville on Feb. 18 along with 101 other migrants, according to a criminal complaint. Velasquez showed Border Patrol agents a Guatemalan birth certificate to prove the boy was his son, but four days later agents determined the claim was false.
A special agent with HSI interviewed Velasquez, who reportedly said “he had looked for a child in Guatemala to cross the United States/Mexico international border with as he was told that it was easier to get into the United States with a child,” the special agent wrote in the complaint.
See? Liberal policies and words have consequences. If you make it easy for them to come, they will. They put this sweet child in harm’s way.
Velasquez paid the boy’s father in Guatemala 1,000 quetzales, or about $130, to use the boy to enter the United States, the special agent wrote. Velasquez also paid $130 to another person to make a fraudulent birth certificate for the boy.
Shame on everyone involved. What kind of parent would allow someone to “rent” their child to illegally cross the border?
Sadly, this isn’t’ the only case. There are hundreds of cases of “family fraud.” According to the sourcelink, “the Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector reported more than 700 fraudulent family claims since October.”
Meanwhile, Democrats continue to call this a “manufactured crisis.”
