Hockey fans! It’s officially playoff time!
Full disclosure: I’m a huge Bruins fan and can’t believe I’ve lived all of these years without NHL Center Ice. It’s been life-changing TBH. I love how rugged and fast-paced the sport is, and I’m all about the brawls. Those miiiiiiight be my favorite part. Shhhh.
ANYWAYl. Since it’s playoff time, some reporters have decided that it’s time to dig deep into the Twitter accounts of notable players. You know. In order to ruin their lives and distract them during the most important games of the season.
Some sports reporter based in California decided to dig up tweets from St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington. In the tweets, which were posted in 2013, Binnington expresses his distaste for burkas.

I’m not seeing how that’s offensive. It’s a question.

I mean… how off is that tweet though? It’s a joke.
Here’s the other one:

Meh. Who cares. It’s a preference.
These aren’t “racist” tweets, mostly because Islam isn’t a race. And again, these tweets are from 2013.
The sports reporter who dug these up clearly had nothing better to do.
Binnington had a solid response to this entire ordeal.
Binnington on tweets: “It was a while ago when I was a teenager. It was a little sarcasm and joking around. That’s what life is about, you live and learn and you grow as a human. I’m just here to play a couple hockey games.” #stlblues

PS–the Blues beat the Winnipeg Jets in the first round. This kind of reporting probably fuels ’em, so good job haters.
