According to this, students at Samoset Middle School were assigned a fun little project. The assignment asked them to talk about someone who they consider to be a personal “hero.” One mom is dealing the fallout of her daughter choosing a controversial figure: Donald Trump.
“Donald Trump is my hero,” 11-year-old Bella Moscato said.
Oh-no. That’s basically like saying, “Hitler is my hero” to liberals.
Bella doesn’t sound like a bandwagoner. She’s loved Trump since she was 8 and even dressed up as him for another school project in the past. But I guess this was the final straw. The teacher rejected Bella’s hero because Trump supposedly “spreads negativity and says bad stuff about women.” The teacher said that in front of other students and told Bella to pick a different hero.
You might not like Trump, but he’s our current POTUS. It’s not weird for a kid to say that the President of the United States is their hero. That shouldn’t be controversial.
Clearly, the teacher didn’t have a problem with students picking leaders as their heroes, because he or she was OK with another student using Obama.
While the teacher said Trump was not an acceptable “hero,” Bella told News 12 her teacher specifically stated that former President Barack Obama would be acceptable.
“That’s what got me angry — I didn’t like that,” she said.
For real.
Bella’s mother, Valerie Moscato, says she was outraged when her daughter called her from school about the incident. She says what the teacher did amounts to intimidation and censorship.
Arthur Moscato, the girl’s father, says he can’t believe someone would tell his daughter that the current U.S. president cannot be her hero.
However, the school kid disputing the claim. Sachem Central School District Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Graham issued the following statement:
It is not accurate that this student was told that they were not allowed to conduct research or report on any individual for a school assignment, including President Trump. To the best of our knowledge, by choice the student is still conducting their project of President Trump.
Someone’s lying here.
