Know Someone Who’s Freaking About Climate Change? Show ‘Em This.

My mom gave me this newspaper clipping she saved from a few weeks ago, which is actually a reprint from an Associated Press story from June of 1989.  Get a load of this.

A senior UN environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.

Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus or “eco-refugees,” threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the UN Environment Program, or UNEP.

He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.

As the warming melts polar ice caps, ocean levels will rise by up to three feet, enough to cover the Maldives and other flat island nations, Brown told the Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday.

Coastal regions will be inundated; one-sixth of Bangladesh could be flooded, displacing a fourth of its 90 million people. A fifth of Egypt’s arable land in the Nile Delta would be flooded, cutting off its food supply, according to a joint UNEP and US Environmental Protection Agency study.

Shifting climate patterns would bring back the 1930s Dust Bowl conditions to Canadian and US wheatlands, while the Soviet Union could reap bumper crops if it adapts its agriculture in time, according to a study by UNEP and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis.

Let’s just check in on those TERRIFYING STATS, shall we?

Entire nations wiped off the face of the earth from rising sea levels by 2000:  NOPE.

Coastal flooding and crop failures create eco-refugees resulting in political chaos:  NOPE.

Governments have a 10-year window (from 1989) to solve crisis:  NOPE. Look at us! It’s 2019 and we’re still kickin’!

Maldives and other flat island nations completely submerged:  NOPE.

One sixth of Bangladesh flooded, displacing 90 million people:  According to Wiki, “In the 19th century, six major floods were recorded: 1842, 1858, 1871, 1875, 1885 and 1892. Eighteen major floods occurred in the 20th century. Those of 1987, 1988 and 1951 were of catastrophic consequence. More recent floods include 2004 and 2010.”  In other words, FLOODS HAVE BEEN HAPPENING THERE FOREVER.  Sooooo….NOPE.  Same goes for the Nile Delta in Egypt.

So what do idiots like AOC and other leftists always tell us?  “The science is settled!”  and that now we have 12 years before we all die. These alarmist predictions, as you can see from the 1989 AP story, have been happening for DECADES, and every deadline that’s set comes and goes and the world continues to go on, as it has for centuries, and as it’ll continue to do for centuries. And yet liberals still gobble up these fake deadlines and create Green New Deals and act like the sky is falling. It doesn’t matter how many of their ridiculous predictions don’t come to fruition, progressives continue to believe the “settled science.”

At what point are they going to realize they’ve been duped? How many times do they have to be wrong, exactly?

Oh wait. These are the same people who think there is no such thing as biological sex. Or there’s like 42 different kinds.  Or something.

I guess we’ve got a while to wait for them to come to their senses on the climate stuff.
