Democrat Presidential Hopeful: Gay Marriage Is Conservative, Brings Me Closer to God

Democratic candidates let a lot of ridiculous word-vom fly out of their pieholes, but this really takes the cake.

Pete Buttigieg is one of the many Democrats running for POTUS. He’s the current mayor of South Bend, Ind. and is trying to win over conservatives by attempting to convince us that gay marriage is a “conservative” issue.

For those who don’t know, he’s gay and “came out” during his reelection campaign.

“I saddens me because when I think about the blessings of marriage. First of all, it’s one of the most conservative things about my life, very conventional. It is morally one of the best things in my life,” he told CNN. “Being married to Chasten makes me a better person. I would even say it moves me closer to God. And so the idea that this of all things is what people are attacking each other over and excluding each other over, when God is love, we are taught. Of all the things to beat people up over on theological grounds, it just seems to me that loving shouldn’t be one of them. So it’s a painful thing to watch. I mean I get it, but…”

Yes. God is love. God loves you so much that he wants what’s best for you. Love doesn’t mean condoning everything you do or think is right. God loves you too much to leave you as you are.

“If you believe marriage has to do with love, if also, by the way, at the risk of sounding a bit conservative, you believe that sex has to do with love, or ought to, then I think it takes you to a pretty specific place,” he continued. “I’ve learned that it’s an expression of love, at least it can be. And I guess I believe it ought to be.”

Listen. I’m not here to tell anyone what to do with their lives, but that whole “it moves me closer to God” thing is a load of bull. He’s just saying that to sound “spiritual” and “right.” The truth is, gay marriage is a perversion of something beautiful God made. It’s contrary to God’s best and His intent. Contrary to popular belief, you can acknowledge that and carry no animosity toward gay people. I know, I know. Who knew?

Do what you want. I don’t care, but I do care when society and politicians gather around and try to tell me that I need to celebrate something I personally believe is contrary to God’s best. I also have a problem with politicians trying to tell me that a homosexual relationship makes them “closer to God.” He’s only saying that to pander, which makes the statement even grosser. But again– that’s a sign of societal decay– the mass embrace of the perversion of good things.

I know that opinion will likely be met with a ton of controversy, but it is what it is.
