Many analysts believed Joe Biden has the best chance out of any Democrat to beat Donald Trump in 2020.
Well… that is, before this MESS all came out.
Former Democratic candidate for Nevada Governor Lucy Flores has accused former Vice President Joe Biden of planting an unwanted kiss on the back of her head ahead of a rally in Las Vegas in 2014. She described the kiss in a piece for “The Cut.”
“I found my way to the holding room for the speakers, where everyone was chatting, taking photos, and getting ready to speak to the hundreds of voters in the audience. Just before the speeches, we were ushered to the side of the stage where we were lined up by order of introduction. As I was taking deep breaths and preparing myself to make my case to the crowd, I felt two hands on my shoulders,” she wrote. “I froze. ‘Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?'”
“I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified. I thought to myself, ‘I didn’t wash my hair today and the vice-president of the United States is smelling it. And also, what in the actual f*ck? Why is the vice-president of the United States smelling my hair?’ He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head,” she continued.
“My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. There is a Spanish saying, ‘tragame tierra,’ it means, ‘earth, swallow me whole.’ I couldn’t move and I couldn’t say anything. I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me. My name was called and I was never happier to get on stage in front of an audience,” she added.
…EWW.
Of course, Creepster Joe has denied the allegations.
“Vice President Biden was pleased to support Lucy Flores’s candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Nevada in 2014 and to speak on her behalf at a well-attended public event,” Biden spokesman Bill Russo said in a statement. “Neither then, nor in the years since, did he or the staff with him at the time have an inkling that Ms. Flores had been at any time uncomfortable, nor do they recall what she describes.”
He added that Biden “believes Ms. Flores has every right to share her own recollection and reflections, and that it’s a change for the better in our society that she has the opportunity to do so.”
Yeah, ok. This is the most BS response ever. You either did what she described, or she’s lying. You don’t get to have it both ways.
Other Democratic candidates are now seeing an opportunity to knock down their main competition.
According to Daily Wire:
Democratic presidential contenders began weighing in over the weekend on whether former Vice President Joe Biden should join the race for the 2020 Democratic nomination now that he’s been accused of sexual harassment and “inappropriate touching” by a former colleague — and they want real answers.
No, they don’t. Democrats have a history of hypocritically attacking sexual misconduct when it benefits them politically, and ignoring it when it doesn’t. This is no different.
Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren was the first to speak out about the allegations, telling a crowd in Iowa Saturday, “I read the op-ed last night,” and “I believe Lucy Flores. And Joe Biden needs to give an answer.”
Sorry, but why is Warren still around?
Lesser known Democratic candidate Julian Castro, who also served in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet, told an Iowa audience, “we need to live in a nation where people can hear her truth,” and that Flores needs to be believed.
Fair enough. and the truth is… haven’t we always known Biden is a creepy touchy kind of guy?
But Democratic activists and some left-leaning media were quick to point out late last week that, while Flores is the first to commit publicly to claims of harassment against Biden, she’s hardly the first woman to have been touched inappropriately — even publicly — by the former vice president. Vox Media pointed out that Biden has been “caught on camera” several times, snuggling, hugging, and kissing women, often with the women looking very uncomfortable.
Vox claims Biden has “gotten a pass” on his behavior from the media — at least until he challenged more “woke” candidates for the nation’s highest office.
Now that Biden is considered a real contender to take on President Donald Trump in 2020, operatives seem determined to dig up dirt on his former life as vice president and as a legislator. The harassment allegations seem to have bubbled to the surface at just the right time to torpedo a burgeoning presidential campaign that could easily skate to victory over other, preferred, identity politics-focused candidates.
So… is he toast?
That remains to be seen.
