Another huge win for life, the Constitution and babies everywhere.
The Trump administration has announced its decision to award a $1.7 million family planning grant to crisis pregnancy centers– AKA centers that don’t provide abortion services.
The Obria group, which considers itself the “pro-life” version of Planned Parenthood, says it will receive a grant to provide family planning services in California.
The administration’s decision to fund Obria is a signal of its desire to shift family planning funds toward faith-based groups that oppose abortion and away from groups like Planned Parenthood.
I think this is awesome. There’s zero reason for liberals to be offended by this. Planned Parenthood already gets our tax dollars, so if they’re OK with that, then they should be OK with this. This clinic actually helps women without murdering children. Yes yes– it’s possible! Novel concept, right?
Obria is a nonprofit affiliate network that operates 21 health clinics and 11 mobile clinics in five states with 78 licensed medical professionals providing comprehensive health care services including: pregnancy testing and counseling, prenatal care through delivery, HIV/AIDS testing, pregnancy ultrasound, breast and cervical cancer testing, well-woman care and pap smears, STD testing and treatment, sexual risk avoidance education, adoption referral, and post-abortion support,” she added. “Obria clinics do not provide contraceptives and do not do abortions, offering women and their families healthy, life-affirming care.
Obria Group Founder and CEO Kathleen Eaton Bravo released a statement on the grant.
“With this grant, the administration has opened up a new avenue of health care choices for low income and underserved women and their families in California,” she said.
“Many women want the opportunity to visit a professional, comprehensive health care facility – not an abortion clinic – for their health care needs; today HHS gave women that choice,” she continued.
In other words, it’s a Planned Parenthood without the whole abortion part.
It will receive $1.7 million in 2019 and, along with other Title X providers, will receive funding through 2022 based on availability of funds, grant compliance and the project’s progress, according to an HHS spokesperson.
They believe they’ll end up with slightly over $5 million by 2022.
Additionally, Planned Parenthood is losing money and freaking out over it.
Planned Parenthood said in a statement Friday that the four affiliates that were “stripped of funding” served Hawaii, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin and Virginia, serving more than 40,000 patients.
“Today, they are removing funding from these trusted health centers and providing funding to entities that do not provide evidence-based treatment,” Planned Parenthood President Leana Wen said in a statement.
“This continued attack on Title X will result in dismantling our nation’s program for affordable birth control and reproductive health care, risking access to comprehensive health care for millions of low-income women and families.”
“…risking access to comprehensive health care” = risking access to abortion. It’s all they care about.
Abortion isn’t “health care,” and taxpayers sure as heck shouldn’t have to fund the sickening practice.
