Maine Mayor Resigns After Mistress Reveals His Racist Texts

So much about this is messed up.

Meet Shane Bouchard. He’s a Republican mayor in Maine who’s resigning, because his mistress exposed his “racist” text messages.

In private messages that were released by a woman, Heather Everly Berube, who alleged to have had an affair with Bouchard during his campaign, the Maine Republican reportedly told a racist joke.

“All my jokes are quite racist lol,” he reportedly said in a text, later adding: “What do you call 2 old black people sitting on your front lawn.”

“Antique farm equipment,” he said.

“Yikes,” Berube wrote back.

Yeah. That’s pretty terrible.

It gets weirder too. That mistress– who exposed these messages– actually worked for his opponent and sunk HIS campaign by leaking emails.

For months, Heather Everly Berube volunteered for Democratic mayoral candidate Ben Chin while secretly funneling his campaign emails to Republican rival Shane Bouchard — with whom, she said, she happened to be having an affair.

Bouchard would go on to win the race, in part because those emails were made public.
